Why is my 3 1/2 year old always hungry? MissHolly 2 kids; West Sacramento, California 980 posts

I have a 3 1/2 year old that wants to eat all the time. I make 3 meals a day and try to aim for 2-3 snacks in between and after. My 3 1/2 year old wants to eat all the time now and for some reason I think he is just saying he is hungry when he is not just so I get up and get it for him. He is especially hungry right after dinner all the way up until bed time. I don't understand it because he eats a pretty good meal for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Do you think he is just saying he is hungry because he sees his daddy eating late night snacks? How do I stop the snacking? I want to raise a happy, healthy little kid but he will not eat fruits and veggies unless I bribe him.

You're the parent, you control the food intake. Offer what you feel is good, and if he doesnt want his fruits and vegetables them hes not THAT hungry.

It's a constant battle because my husband eats junk and thinks chips and pretzels are good food choices for our kid after 8 pm. I want to just throw them both and apple and say if your hungry here you go...

Yeah...that is a bigger issue. But if hes up after 8 eating sugar and shit no wonder hes not going to bed when he should be.

Girl, you got to nip this stuff in the butt. Wont be long till our kids are in school and schedules and healthy eating will be of the up most importance.

My kids do that when they are going through growth spurts. I don't limit their food intake or their snacking. Then again, they don't really eat junk. I'm the junky eater:lol: I wait until the kids are in bed to enjoy a snack.
