I'm getting married in 10 days and for our honeymoon, my soon-to-be hubby and I will be going to Silver Dollar City (an amusement park). I will be almost six weeks along at that point. Do you think riding a roller coaster would be a bad idea? I mean, I know you're not supposed to ride when you're further along, but what if it's still early?

I googled the issue and found webisites that say that there is no evidence to back up that it's bad for you to ride roller coasters but there is also no evidence that it's completely safe. I even found another site where a gal was 18 weeks along and her doctor said it was ok for her to ride roller coasters.

i wouldn't do it because you will only be 6 weeks, and i wouldn't want to risk it.

I was just at Cedar Point this weekend, and there is no way in hell I would have ridden any of those rides pregnant. I'm ahuge ball of nerves until I get down the first hill! That alone seems bad enough.

I'd call your doc and get his/her opinion.

My sister went to Disney World when she was about 6 weeks and didn't know she was pregnant...that included roller coasters, airplane trips, and lots of wine drinking...and my nephew is almost 4 and very healthy...
BUTif it was me I probably wouldn't just because I would be a nervous wreck about the "what ifs" for the rest of my pregnancy. I would call the doctor and see what he has to say too...

I wouldn't do it simply because like the other girls stated I would be a nervous wreck and if something did go wrong with the pregnancy I would forever be asking myself if it was due to that.

I would ask your doctor. I went to sea world and didnt know you could walk through the attric thing because the only thing the lady was telling us was that it was a stimlauted ride. I didnt go on, i wasnt that far along , i dont remember exactly how far along i was or i would tell you. But i ended up not choosing to go on because i didnt want to risk anything.

This post makes me sad.. We used to get season passes to Valleyfair every year, and we were going to go to Cedar Point and all the other parks run by that company but I got pregnant and now I don't know when I will get to go!! I wouldn't risk it though. Play the better safe than sorry card

i wouldn't do it regardless of how far along i am. not smart or safe IMO. i agree with everyone else, they post those signs stating that pregnant women should not ride for a reason. if something were to happen to your child, you'd probably think back on this decision with regret. or at least i would. it's not worth it.

ride 'em next year.

I wouldn't. If something goes wrong in your pregnancy, you will feel guilty and blame yourself forever.
