Quoting ToriHope:" So basically if i have this baby my boyfriend goes to jail? "

You're pregnant. Whether or not you have the baby, get an abortion, or place it for adoption, you two have very obviously had sex and your parents have the option of pressing statutory rape charges, making him a sex offender. That is a risk you both took when you began having sex in the first place.

This is the California law that your boyfriend faces

Anyone who engages in an act of unlawful sexual intercourse with a person under age 18 and the actor is not more than three years older or three years younger, is guilty of a misdemeanor

No. It would be, at most, a misdemeanor, and it's unlikely they'll even care to press charges. The state will want him to provide for the baby. He can't do that if he's on the sex offender list.

<blockquote><b>Quoting KTSKDR:</b>" i think im misunderstanding this bcuz to me its saying an 18 yr old can sleep with a 15 yr old? since it says if the actor is not more than three years older or younger"</blockquote>

That law is for someone 18 sleeping with someone 15, 16, or 17.

If its 21 and more than 3 years it's a felony.

There are 3 different statutes for California within the same code.

I only copied the one that applied to her situation.

Technically he could go to jail for up to a year per their sentencing chart on the statute.

Technically doesn't mean bunk when it comes to practice.

Ha you think the state gives a shit if he is providing for his kid? And they are quick to throw people in jail for that crap. Here they are hard asses about it. And I think Op's biggest problem is her mom getting pissed and pressing charges.

It's the law. The sentence for the statute listed is "up to a year in jail". That should be expected.

Whats done is done. She's already pregnant whether its wrong or not. & if she hasn't already figured out how much she's just screwed up, she will soon. I'm sure she feels like a big enough idiot without your input.

Hey I'm kind of in the same situation as you. I'm 15 and pregnant but I have a very good relationship with my mom. My boyfriend is older & supports me 100%. I'm going to tell you that MOST TEEN MOMS ARE ACTUAL MOMS. You see older moms not being responsible so there's NO room for other moms to be talking crap about your situation! It REALLY upsets me when they say "You can't be a mom your too young". I may be young but it doesn't really matter the age.! You see older women abusing there kids making them work for them, being irresponsible. BUT WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH TEEN MOMS?! NOTHING. YES it WILL be even harder when your in school & not working. But everything has a solution. Your mom will eventually have to accept you, I mean your her daughter. Tell her that you love her have a calm talk & that yes you made made a mistake having sex at a young Age & getting pregnant at a young age. Its a blessing to be pregnant, to be able to bring life into this world. & don't get me wrong being pregnant is priceless but the mistake is being pregnant AT A YOUNG AGE. To be honest with you I don't regret being pregnant at all! Your mom can't force you to abort. Try to live with an aunt or uncle or friend for a while once everything calms down. I think living with your boyfriend will cause more problems between you & your mom & the law. Your mom will always have the law by her side till your 18. I hope this helps though . . .

Do you have anything else to do other then being really annoying & negative? The girl asked for HELP. You have NO right to be telling her to have an abortion or for the fetus to be adopted. Your not the mother here. And sure as hell your not the best person to be replying to her post. Being a teen mom is not a crime. There's teen moms who take the mom-role more seriously than others. There are many people who are adults and they have kids. All they do is drink and party. There other adults (young&older) who take care there children. Just because you saw ONE teen mom being unsuccessful doesn't mean all teen moms are going to fail. God puts each & everyone of us a challenge in our lives. it won't be easy but its NOT impossible.

No.

Anyone can be a shit mom. But seeing as you can't even work without a permit, you cannot live on your own, you cannot drive, and you have no credit history, the odds are against mothers your age.

Aside from your general lack of maturity and life experience.
