I had DS February 11th. I've had a sinus infection since before he was born and it's just way worse. I can barely swallow. I started an antibiotic for it while I was in the hospital. Now that DS is 9 days old, I just feel utterly awful with all the drainage. I've tried the at home remedies. My son amd I have had pink eye for a few days now. I tried the breastmilk in the eye and it gave relief but it hasn't gotten rid of it. Now on top of all that. We both have thrush on my nipples and his mouth. I'm caving in. I'm so miserable that I don't want to breastfeed anymore. I can't breathe, swallow, or see. My nipples hurt so bad. I'm done.

But breast is best-especially when you are sick and provide him with the antibodies. Don't give up!!!! Pm...I volunteer at a new mom class on bf. I can be a shoulder to lean on :) when my dd was born I too had a double ear infection and a sinus infection-she was 3 weeks old.

Don't give up mama. This is just a temporary thing. Bfing is a long term health advantage. Get some gentian violet and it'll knock the thrush out. Use a atop and put it on your nipples once or twice a day and swab baby's mouth with it twice a day. You darn want to let that go.itll get worse fast. If you feel an itchy or stabbing type pain going up into your breasts get the dr to give u diflucan (fluconazole). Have u tried a netipot for your sinuses? That's the only thing that helps me. If u have a yeast infection I wouldn't do bm in your eye. You might spread the yeast. Are u sure it's pink eye? It could just be a cold in your eye which can have similar symptoms. Try a tea bag on your eyes.

Stopping won't clear up your sinus infection, and it will take away those antibodies your baby is needing so he doesn't get sick, too.

Where can I get the gentian violet? It definitely the sharp stabbing pain shooting up through both breasts. I gave my doctor and his doctor a call about the yeast infection. I've been taking Bactrim regular strength for the sinus infection for 7 days and it hasn't helped at all. I've been using a neti pot for 5 days 3 times daily since I was released from the hospital. It temporarily helps the pressure but it comes back. I stopped usuing BM for our eyes yesterday when I noticed both nipples hurting. I'm pretty sure it's pink eye. That's what my grandmother told me when she looked at my eyes. It's pretty gross too. :(

I know. I really don't want to stop. I'm just having a breakdown. It just seems like it's one thing after another. I feel helpless and like I'm just doing everything wrong.

Thank you. I'm just having a breakdown. I'm so miserable. It's been hard dealing with all these obstacles along with taking care of a unruly toddler and a newborn.

Call diff pharmacies. Some places have it and some don't. You don't wanna be running around on a wild goose chase with kids haha. It's behind the pharmacy counter but it's not a prescription. U just have to ask for it. Yes u want diflucan if it feels inside your breasts. There's no other way to get it out. And Swab your LOs mouth twice a day with the gv. A dr will just give u nystatin which can prolong the infection increasing the risk of your passing it back and forth for a long time :(U might need meds for the pink eye. I thought dd had pink eye once and the eye dr said it didn't need meds. I thought for sure shed need meds. It had all the symptoms of pink eye.

If it's getting too stressful on you and the baby you can take a break for a couple days, your supply will decrease a lot but you can pick it back up. Breastfeeding is extremely hard and with myself I've had it pretty easy and it's still a headache sometimes. But it's best for your baby. I've supplemented him with formula a little to get a break and it was so refreshing. The beginning always seems the worst, you'll get through it!

I'm sorry mama... It will get better though. I promise. With DD I had a horrid experience in the beginning. I got mastitis which made me feel like death. But it did get better. With DS I have been having a much better experience... Even though the beginning still sucks. I cried and cried for several days. Now it is sooooo much better. He is 7 weeks. The first month is such and adjustment. Try not to give up mama. I know it is hard not to though! <3

That's not a good idea with thrush. The yeast breeds in dark warm moist places. If the milk is sitting stagnant it'll just be a breeding ground. The best thing to do is keep nursing and keep that milk flowing.

Ohh I didn't know that, I was lucky not to get it with this one. Well pumping is an option, but hopefully its better by now.
