Induction opinions lovinthem04 Due June 26 (boy); 19 kids; Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri 1999 posts

Do you think inductions should be done for any reason? Reasons like "For my SO/family/friends to be there", or " I'm uncomfortable". Or do you think they should strictly be used when mother or baby's health is in jeopardy? I personally believe convenience is NOT an excuse for induction. I am talking about before 40 weeks. I personally don't think you should be induced for being "over due" until you hit 42+ weeks, provided everything is okay with mom and baby. Personally, I wish I could go to 40 weeks. I get upset when I see women choosing to be induced early out of convenience. Anyways, what do you think?

Well I can get behind reasons like that if the guy travels a lot or he's military and facing a deployment

I did it so my mother could be there with me. It may be selfish to some, but I wanted to share that experience with her.

I won't judge anyone unless they are wanting to be induced before the 39 week mark and are trying to induce themselves on their own.

It's my post about possibly inducing due to a very close fam member beginning radiation for cancer she just got diagnosed with, they aren't even sure she's gonna make it.

I think it's a decision for the woman and her doctor to make.

lol, yeah.

If asked, I'll be honest... my induction caused my baby's health to be in jeopardy... I think the emergency c-section is a pretty typical outcome.

I can only hope that women who choose induction outside of medical necessity have a fairly uneventful and quick labor.

I have been medically induced in all 3 of my pregnancies...I am jealous of those that get to go full term. lol
Seriously though, induction increases the risks of things going wrong. Why would you WANT to increase risks?
All of my births, I didn't need anyone there except myself, but was happy to have my husband there.....but I wouldn't want anyone else there anyways, so I definitely wouldn't be inducing so someone can be there! lol Hell my husband is in the military and we know if I get pregnant, there are chances he wont even be home for the birth.

I really don't see the big deal about a woman wanting to be induced especially if you are pro choice. It should be her decision to make with her doctor. It's her body and her baby.
