Lean on me when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need somebody to lean on

My kids go to public pre-k. Its run by the daycare center hey've been at since they were 2.

Check daycares. Its funded by the lotto in GA.

We just enrolled DS in the public pre-k during open enrollment in March. It's first come, first serve as there is a limited space.

Quoting Pusherman:" I think there is only 12 slots. Is it always in March? I really want to get her in. I think it would ... [snip!] ... due in August, it'll give her a chance to get out, make some friends and also give me a bit of a break during the day as well."

That's when school enrollment is around here. I'm not sure about anywhere else, but I'm guessing it's always March.

Only 12 slots? That's a tiny pre-k! DS's class alone has like 20 kids. And there's about 7 classes. But then again there is only one pre-k for the whole county.

aQuoting Pusherman:" I think they just started it last year for the first time, at least a news article I read suggests that. ... [snip!] ... really confused, I hope this lady calls me back. It's so strange that pre-k isn't readily available to all kids here :S :S :S"

Most kids who register around here don't get in either. You practically have to be calling non-stop before registration opens to make your appt to sign up. They won't just let you walk in here.
Plus there is even less bus space, so not all kids who go to pre-k can ride the bus. And the bus only goes to 2 designated areas for pick up and drop off. It kind of sucks. :?
I heard Obama is trying to make it mandatory for all pre-k age children to be in pre-k. I can get behind that.
