We are going away this weekend on a mini vacation. We are staying at a hotel with a pool and hot tub. My youngest will be 6 months old in a couple days. Is she too young to go into the pool? I dont want her in the hot tub just because of how hot they are.

We went to the river when dd was 6 months old. I had her in a life vest and just held her the whole time. She was fine.

From everything we have been trained on this is dangerous Babies shouldn't start until 6 months, although it is ok to sit in the bath tub with a younger infant and have them float and stuff, it is not healthy to have them in chemically treated pools at 6 weeks. I teach at a YMCA and they train you 6+ months in NE

We started swimming lessons at 6 months and ours absolutely love being in the water!! I wouldn't say she's too young, but she won't like it if the pool is too cold. We get to use the therapy pool at our local facilities for the infant classes and it's like bath water. Definately don't use the hot tub. If you are really wanting her to swim, you could invest in a baby wet suit to keep her warm if the water is on the cooler side. Have fun though! As I said, we love it and their swimming lessons are the highlight of our week!
