HELP! My 2 month old won't go to sleep ~*Katya's Mommy*~ 33 kids; Tucson, Arizona 712 posts

Unless someone is holding her.
I am currently living with family after a really bad break up with my daughter's sperm donor. My grandmother will pick her up any time she cries and hold her until she falls asleep in her arms. It was all find and dandy, but now that's rubbing off in bed time behavior. It takes me about 2 hours to get her to fall asleep. I try to put her down at 8pm and she SCREAMS until 10. My grandmother is getting better about letting her cry a little, but it doesn't help at night.
Baths work sometimes, but not always. I have tried the calming and soothing shampoo and lotion, it doesn't work. I try the cry-it-out method, but she will scream until you pick her up or until she makes herself throw up! She has NEVER been like this. Sometimes she sounds like she is in agonizing pain, but once I pick her up she's fine. What have you tried that works?

And I'd like to add that I have held her until she falls asleep and tried putting her down and she just wakes up screaming and I have to to spend another 2 hours trying to put her to sleep.

I wouldnt be letting her cry it out. She's so little. Have you tried a swing and some white noise? white noise worked magic on my little guy. maybe you can try Swaddling?

I don't let her cry more than 5 minutes or so, that's about as long as it takes for her to start screaming. 2 if I swaddle her. I put her in the swing during the day if I need to get things done, but I don't want to leave her in it overnight. I play soft music in the background, but again, it doesn't nothing. I have to be touching her.

try white noise..it may sounds obnoxious..but lots of babies love it. we found out by accident..my son was screaming and i was trying to get ready because we had an appointment to get to and the second i turned on the hair dryer he stopped. we got a white noise machine and we'd play it everynight and he slept great.

Where did you get the white noise machine at? I might try it. I play a lot of music for her because I listened to a bunch of music when I was pregnant, but it's not doing the trick anymore.

rite aid, made by homedics...its a little tiny round thing, has a few setting but we only ever used white noise. You can type in "White noise" or "hair dyrer sounds" on youtube..we used those before we were able to get a machine lol. Hope it works for you. Having a newborn is exhausting!

Thank you! I'll try it. It really is tiring and I hate trying to let her cry it out. Have a good night!
