Just wondering what other's would do in this situation :D

You get a refund from a company, at the same time your bank refunds you as well.

You inform the bank and they say they will withdraw their refund with in the next month.

Over a month passes and they haven't done so.

What do you do?
Contact them and remind them again?
Assume they forgot and consider the money yours?
other?

I've already taken care of it, but i'm just curious :)

Contact them. Wouldn't want to spend it and then have them take it out later when I wasn't expecting it...

I would call and remind them because as soon as you spend it they'll realize their mistake & try to withdrawl it

Contact them. I'd never spend it, the second you spend it is the second they'll take it out of your account!

I would contact them. I've ordered stuff online and been sent two of the same thing by mistake. I've called and been told to keep the other thing that there's no point sending it back. So I did that. I wouldn't have done it without calling them, though. With money it's different.

I probably wouldn't even notice it because I'm flaky like that. If I did, I'd probably contact them because it would be the "right" thing to do, I guess.

That's my thought too- it's in an account that i don't even use (well, rarely use) so it was just....sitting there. This last time i called (about 10 min ago) they said it'd be done immediately (within 12 hours) vs a month- so hopefully, HOPEFULLY it's done!

thats me. :) 18 kids; Edmonton, Alberta 3030 posts

I would contact them. I would be too worried that if I spent it, they would end up trying to take it, and then it would put us behind financially.

the only reason i notice is cos it's in an account i don't really use (my old checking account) so the main chunk of money in it- is the bank's haha once it's out, there'll be like-- $30 :P

In that case, I'd totally want it out asap so they didn't yank it out months later after I'd TOTALLY assumed it was done &over with and I ended up using that account for something and became overdrawn or whatever.

When i made the first call they thanked me saying most people wouldn't call in 'n do this... but like- wouldn't that just end badly? :D

I suppose if it was an active account then maybe people wouldn't care to report it, or notice it maybe? but since mine's not, it was driving me nuts having it in there :P

which is what got me in this mess to begin with haha, well, kinda- amazon taking out money that wasn't their's or there- so they had to refund the overdraw fee too.
