What do you do? I have gone to 5 freeking interviews in the past two weeks, and been told I had the job if I could work nights and weekends, but I just can't. :( I am only available mon-fri 7-6 because of child care. And I cannot work for minimum wage and make it, it just isn't possible for me.

you could go apply for a call center or bank, they have 'mother hours' and pay decent

I had to be available nights and weekends as well.
Luckily I found drop in daycares that were open until 10pm and on Saturdays. Maybe see if you have any of those.

Lucky! I have an incredibly difficult time finding childcare... me and my boyfriend both work nights, his hours were cut and he gets maybe 12hrs/wk right now and I work 6-7 nights a week, 2-10 or 3-10. I only make 9/hr and all the sitters around here want 10/hr... like if I were to hire one I'd be better off just being a SAHM D:

I prefer to have the in a child care center because I do not know anyone around here, and I know that all of the teacheers at the child care center are background checked, drug tested, and have no history with cps. My kids are 4, 3, and almost 2.

I sold insurance. M-f 8-5. It paid well plus commissions.

And I was hired on without my license. My boss paid for me to get my licenses, and once I did I got a raise.

I get that.

but.. I like putting a roof over my kids head, and food on the table. I get references, and hire well known, reputable sitters.
life isn't always perfect... and... most of the time, abusers are close friends of the family anyway. there's really no way to screen against creeps.

I found one near me when I was looking and there rates were CRAZY expensive, it ended up being almost $20 more a day pre child.

nope, just decent math skills, and customer service to be a teller or if they have a bank call center they pay really good. thats what i did. that or any call center can usually give you hours you want and pay good

It was almost double the cost of a normal daycare, that is true. But it was only a third of what I was making so I could wing it.

Thats how I feel, I am considering asking the girls at my child watch at the gym to babysit saturdays if I found something, because I know they only make minimum wage,.
