Not necessarily. I'm pretty sure in NZ abortion is legal up until 13.4. If the baby has defects, or poses a risk to the mothers life, or may die anyway, the mother has the option to abort. I'm pretty sure you're allowed to abort for things like Downs Syndrome, it's frowned upon but I don't think it's technically illegal. Pretty sure we don't have women dying from denied abortions

I don't understand how people can do that. recently there was a case in NZ where a mother abandoned her newborn in someones yard and the owner of the house found the baby dead while hanging out her washing :( I don't know if we have anything in the way of safe haven laws but Im sure there was SOMETHING she could have done.

I would never personally get an abortion at any gestation, but to me if the fetus is at the point where it could survive if it was delivered, than I don't understand how someone could choose to abort. However, I don't want some baby to be delivered and thrown out or killed or what not. So I cannot say I want the laws to be a specific way, I just don't want to hear about it really.

I say 12 weeks. Maybe push it during the 13th week (so like 12 weeks 2 days. ).

I found out the sex at 15 weeks. I can't imagine aborting a child that far along.

But then if its on medical grounds, anytime in the pregnancy, although I think it should be within 2 weeks of finding out the medical reason

But the personality, traits, etc have already been encoded within it. Like some people say it's not okay at x point because it "looks like a baby". That's what I don't understand

So is aborting a baby that you know for a fact will have a poor quality of life murder or a saving grace?

I don't know why, but that came off as offensive to me.

I'm so glad the law is 26 weeks here. My cousin didn't realize she was so far along because of irregular periods. At 16 she could NOT have handled adoption.

If the baby was going to have severe health issues, I could understand people wanting to abort.. Because the kid has downs syndrome, not so much.

Some people do not believe that, me included. For the first handful of weeks, it's layers of tissue and looks nothing like a baby. That's why people will say that.

I don't see why. I'm in aus and our laws and your laws are much the same. What she said was more offensive towards Canada and the us
