Financial Aid Question Atticus & Rhys's Mommy 2 kids; Westfield, Massachusetts 7406 posts

My financial aid finally got processed and I was awarded with mostly a Pell Grant and a small Sub student loan for this Spring and Fall semester.

My question is, I actually plan on taking probably 3 classes this summer do I have to apply for aid again for the summer, since that was only spring and fall that was awarded?? Sorry, I would of called the school and asked but it's hell trying to get through to them on the phone at school.

Thanks

Your school might be different, but there was no fin. aid for summer classes at my school.

I'm pretty sure that Obama stopped pell grants for Summer and Winter classes. So you would probably have to pay out of pocket for those.

There was no federal grants/scholarships for the summer, and my scholarships through the school only applied to the fall and spring semesters, not interims.

I get financial aid for fall winter and spring...unless they have changed it for the 2013-2014 school year?
it may just be determined by your school.

I can apply for finanical aid for summer courses.....either a pell grant as long as I havent used the full allotted amount $5500 or I get get a sub student loan for the summer courses. Which doesnt bother me, I just wanted to take courses for the summer.

Obama changed it. You get 2 full time semesters. 24hrs. So it depends how many hours you take. If you took 6hrs in fall and 12hrs this spring you could still take 6hrs in the summer.

That's how the FA office at the school explained it to me. But that was last year. He may have made more changes. You really need to talk to your school to be sure.

For students attending less than half-time, the COA includes tuition and fees and an allowance for books, supplies, transportation and dependent care expenses; but can also include room and board for up to three semesters or the equivalent at the institution, but no more than two of those semesters or the equivalent may be consecutive. Contact the financial aid office at the college you plan to attend if you have any unusual expenses that might affect your cost of attendance.

off the aid site if ur part time they cover 3 semester im full time so i only get 2 semsters covered.
