Quoting redneck mamma:" They mostly take the low paying farm jobs and the jobs a lot of people wont work because they believe ... [snip!] ... are people on both sides of this argument that are right and wrong and then the few that are way off in left field somewhere."

Right, but if there were no supply for the demand, the wages would naturally be driven up.

There are 2 sides to this issue.

Quoting .Colleen.:" I really don't think you can fault America and it's demand for cheap labor for the presence of illegal immigrants, but that is another D&D entirely."

No one is at fault really because it's not a black and white issue.

And as wages are driven up the farmers would hire less people. I was surprised to find out that farmers cannot pay that much to the people they employ because if they get their equipment through government aid programs most of the will never pay off the government. I can understand them not being able to pay much cause you have got to make a profit to survive the winter months. Hell there is one farm here that will pay 9.68 an hour which is high compared to other farmers. But there is always that one dumb a*****e who doesn't think that is enough but will sit back and b***h about "illegals" taking jobs like those so he can't find work. Lots of ignorant folks out there. I try to see both sides of an argument.

Quoting Crystal Marie S.:" See this is exactly why I'm kind of torn on immigrant issues. The place where I was born and raised has ... [snip!] ... can and save for their Children and I really have to admire that. They're always polite and their kids rarely get into trouble."

Exactly. That whole American mentality that immigrants are bad people because they are taking OUR country[which is wrong] is just absurd. The problem everyone has with it is more illegals = more government assistance. But that government assistance would go to a lazy American girl with 7 kids and no intention of getting out of the system[or something]. The US has a set amount of funds each year for assistance and whoever qualifies, receives it.

Yes, there will always be the lazy people that won't work a legal job, that's just human nature, unfortunately. They come in all sizes, colors and races.

I am curious why the most important industry in the US, food, is so underfunded and underemployed.

Where are our priorities?

Every other country that is having problems. Dont get my wrong, people going to other countries to help out is great but sending a ton of money to other countries when we are $16 trillion in the red is a bit ridiculous.

Agreed. We should take care of our own, immigrants and citizens alike, before we intervene in other countries.

That and government officials need to stop taking so many vacations. I get diplomatic reasons for visiting other countries but going on a ton of vacations is a waste of money and isn't helping anyone.

That and the state of North Carolina has seven vehicles at the governor's disposal. I think that is a bit excessive since only three out of seven vehicles are regularly used, yet here we are paying taxes to help keep these vehicles "on the road" so to speak.

Yeah well, that's expected of most people with a ton of money and power. Again, it's the mentality of looking out for yourself instead of your people as a whole that is the downfall. And a lot of other countries' governments are even worse.
