Quoting Smartass *Preggo!*:" Interviewing my first midwife this week!!! I am thinking about a home birth. Anyone else?"

I'd love a home birth! Unfortunately for me, unless they are RNMW it's illegal for any other kind of midwife to practice in Kentucky and there are no RNMW around here that do home births. I've also been high risk with both of my kiddos, so I'm really not a candidate as much as I hate to admit it. :(

Quoting Mrs. Brightside:" i am sure she will stay with DH's parents. which she has no complaints about (my 4 year old niece lives ... [snip!] ... before i give birth. shes 3, and everyone thinks i am crazy for not letting her stay overnight sooner but she is my baby :( lol"

DD never stayed away from home either until last summer when I was pregnant with LO. I started bleeding really heavily and they kept me in L&D. SO refused to leave me there alone and I didn't have much choice. I was soooo worried about her on top of everything else but she was fine. And didn't bat an eye about going to spend the night with her aunts when I went into labor, she was excited. It was definitely worse for me than it was for her. Lol.

I get it! I had so much stress the first year because of his birth injuries, there was no way he was leaving my side, and then the next year we were focusing on his autism so I was too nervous then. We did a weekend visit with my in laws with both boys last month, I was a wreck at first but it was nice to reconnect with my DH and actually get some sleep (and conceived #3, oops lol.)

Stupid question but I've always wondered what the difference between an OB and a midwife is?
Good luck on your home birth if you have one! Even if I could handle the pain from a natural birth, I live in a townhouse so I don't have much space to have a home birth. My house is kinda tiny :(

Being away overnight from dd is something I'm ready for. She spends every other Saturday night with mil so they can go to church together. We lived with my inlaws for a year right before dd was born so they were around all the time right from the beginning and had a hard time not seeing her. Mil wanted her every other weekend but that's to much for me lol Im hoping this birth goes a lot like DDs because I think I'd only have to stay for 1 night then. With dd they only kept me for 2 because I was a first time mom.

If you wanted you might be able to have her sleep there with you, I just don't know how your dd would do with it lol the lady in the room next to me had her older child stay with her.

Anyone else having hip pain already or am I the only one? I never had it with my other two until about 6-7 months.

My right hip is hurting me. It sometimes wakes me up in the middle of the night. And this is my first pregnancy. Weird.

So I'm thinking about using a Midwife this time around. What are some questions i should ask when interviewing?

I plan to ask my midwife the following questions on Wed:

In the event of tearing will you be able to give me stitches (some don't)
Do you offer a birthing tub, if so how much $ (I am asking because its a homebirth)
Do you always bring an assistant? How many assistants to you employ? Are they a Doula/Midwife?
How often do you have to transfer care to an OB/Hospital?
How many births on average do you attend in a month?
What are your views on ultrasounds (some midwives do not believe you should have them)
What are your views on induction past a certain point? (Some midwives don't like when you are 42 weeks over due)

Awesome! Have you ever had a homebirth?
