I have had this stabbing pain between my shoulder blades - it comes and goes - but is super painful - and is starting to radiate towards the bottom of my shoulder blade on my right side - I've had hard time breathing - not all the time just when the pain comes - seems to be worse at night - gets worse when I eat - and god forbid I sneeze - that makes it so much worse - I went to the dr - he ordered a chest xray - went and had that done - then went to the ER - they did chest CT - found nothing that they were looking for - sent me home with pain meds - they curb pain a bit but it still hurts through it - any advice of what it could be? Or to bring up to the dr? If I ask he will usually check it out no problem -
I get something similar on my back (Same side, same location). Mine however is a knot. I call it a stress knot. It usually happens when I stand or sit in the same position for an extended period of time.
It could have to do with your posture and what not OP.
It sounds like pleurisy. Which...is basically an inflammation of the lungs. Dp you smoke? I get it a lot in the Winter from smoking. Mine is basically a sharp ache.
Also, I have gallbladder disease and it causes pain in my upper back and right shoulder.
Sorry it took so long to respond - my lungs were fine in the chest xray and ct - but I'm starting to lean towards gallbladder - gonna talk to my dr about an ultrasound of it - no I don't smoke - but whatever this is - it is incredibly painful - I can't function without pain meds to take the edge of the pain a little -
Quoting DumpstEr DiveR:" Sorry it took so long to respond - my lungs were fine in the chest xray and ct - but I'm starting to ... [snip!] ... - but whatever this is - it is incredibly painful - I can't function without pain meds to take the edge of the pain a little -"
It very well could be. I've experienced both and the shoulder/back pain are similar. But...I also have the spasms from gallstones and they feel like a heart attack.
I've gone through like....5 prescriptions of hydrocodone in the last 2 months from the pain, so I know what you mean!
