I never changed my diet. I ate ice cream up until I gave birth with this last baby because I was trying not to focus on the pain. I kept shoving my face. Other than my last pregnancy, I generally tried to avoid eating once I was in active labor so that I wouldn't throw up. I have never worried about what I was drinking. Cranberry juice with TONS of ice is always what I asked for in the hospital.

honestly, I would not take your doctors advice of stopping eating after midnight. I think it's important to have food in you. Food is fuel and you will need all the fuel you can get to push that baby out! I've NEVER heard of such a silly thing. Maybe eat things light on the stomach, but don't stop eating!

Inductions can take FOREVER. I wouldn't worry too much about what you eat/drink. My last induction was 30+ hours. My first one was 6.5 hours.

I don't think it really matters. I wouldn't drink anything carbonated though, those burn if the pain makes your vomit.

Really? I've been induced twice and I was never told not to eat. Only until active labor. But the couldn't stop me if I wanted to anyways, they just wouldn't give me food.

Yeah I am not looking forward to the long labor part lol But whatever it takes I guess. And he told me not to eat that way I don't throw up or if I do it won't be as bad

Yeah no... that's stupid. You need food. I would still have breakfast before you go in! At least toast/applesauce or something light. Labor is hard enough, let alone going through labor feeling like you are starving! How silly. I've been induced twice and ate both times. I mean, the worst scenario is that you puke... but honestly, until you are in active labor, it's not much of a concern. If you have breakfast, it will be a while before you are in active labor. You will have plenty of time to digest your food!!

Some people like to eat, but I didnt. I would stick to water, juice, and Popsicles

Yeah I would eat something light RIGHT before you go to the hospital because once you are there, they wont let you eat at all until after the baby.

With my first i was eating/drinking as i was in labour lol! Powerade and had a chocolate bar

With my 2nd they wouldn't let me have anything except water/ice chips just incase i needed to be rushed to theatre/knocked out in an emergency.

(same hospital and both labours were only 17mo apart)

ETA:
I went into labour naturally both times.. wasnt induced at all.

Honestly, have some toast or something to sit in your belly.
Every time Ive been induced it's taken at least an hour just to get the induction started and then at least another hour to have any contractions start. Just applesauce won't fill you up and give you the energy you need.

With my last baby I went in at 10am and wasn't actually induced until noon... then my labor continued for over 30 hours after that. The nurses let me eat toast w/PB and applesauce until I was in active labor, and I still had my ways of getting the ice cream. Haha.

I was also told not to eat before I was induced so of course I ate as much as I could before midnight. But my doctor did say I could drink water.
