I bought some real garlic this week (the kind you use to keep vampires away).. How do i like prep it to make homemade garlic bread with? My sister in law posted a picture of hers and i asked her what i needed for it and she said 2 cloves of garlic, butter and basil.

Do i mash the garlic? lol
Depends you can mince the garlic and sorta saut
take the little part of the grater and grate the garlic, it should turn into paste. It depends on the consistency that you like your butter for example do you want itty bitty chunks of garlic or smooth
I like to put the garlic clove in the oven with the papery skin left on at 350

I roast mine first. peel the cloves, and rub olive oil on them put in foil in the oven at 350 until soft and spreadable like butter. you may want to flip them a couple of times. they will brown a little bit. but roasting them will bring out an awesome flavor. once roasted mix with butter and a bit of salt and spread on the bread and bake.

How long does that usually take?
