Mod podge/staining question. DN⚓JB Due October 13; 2 kids; Connecticut 374 posts

DS's first birthday party 'theme' is going to be loosely based on the Newsies. My plan is to mod podge newspapers to a cheap table covers, but I would like the newspapers to be aged. I am going to try ageing the paper by tea bags, but I am assuming that the paper will stiffen and wrinkle a litlle. Will the newspapers adhere to the cable covers alright, or do you think the paper will rip and/or be ruined some other way?

i think it would rip. what if instead of making a table cloth...you make place mats? get cheap place mats and mod podge the newspaper on that and then you could laminate it to protect the paper?

The large table we have is pretty ugly. I plan to put utencils, the drinks and finger snacks on it, otherwise, I love the place mat idea. I may have to just suck it up and not stain the paper.

Have you tried looking for scrap paper that looks like an aged newspaper?

I have never tea bagged paper but mod podge is so easy to work with I think you would be ok. I would just use a lot on the base so it sticks good then lightly apply it to the top. Then put a few heavy books on it

I think once your paper is dried out it will be ok just need to be a little more gentle with it.

I love modge podging :)

Is it possible to tint mod podge?

The book idea is genius! Lol, thank you!

Probably! Make brown out of food coloring and mix it in. I don't see why it wouldn't work

Great idea!
