Hmmm I like writing papers.

Some of my papers I wrote in college were:
Comparing the dynamics of society in Lord of the Rings to Modern Day Society
The progression (regression it seems) of the English language.
Using comics/graphic novels in the classroom and validating their usage over other literary mediums

Yeah... I'm totally not an English major, am I? ;)

what is your assignment? write a paper on anything? you don't have any criteria, topic guidelines?

I just wrote a 7 page research paper (nursing school) on elective inductions and how they affect c-sections rates, also discussing how educating women on the risks can reduce the cesarean numbers.

I enjoyed it. Was a fun one to research

let me post the guidelines so yal can see.

Practical knowledge of library resources, in depth research experience, and application of college-level scholarship.

Research Project

Purpose: To learn how to use the library to its full capacity: access valid material, evaluating sources for relevance and credibility, and stylistically incorporating information into a scholarly paper.

Outcomes:
*Comprehension and interpretation
*Evaluation and analysis
*Presentation
*Analysis of ethical problems, dilemmas, and decisions.
*Integration of multiple points of view

Topic and Thesis Proposal: 25 Points
Requirements:
* 1-2 pages
* The primary text that you will be researching must be clearly stated
* You must underline your thesis
* You must mention the various points of view in this controversy.
Assignment:
In this project, you will choose a text of your choice and research the themes that you notice from this text. For example, many students choose to write this paper on one or more of the works of their favorite author, where others may feel more compelled to choose something else, perhaps from Models for Writers. You may also analyze and research a piece of political propaganda, a political cartoon, or a movie. The work you choose, however, must be related to the course content, in one way or another. I advise that you relate this project to your major, although you are not obligated to do so.
Begin this paper by stating the text and topic you wish to explore, as well as the controversies surrounding this topic. Next, list a few questions to answer (e.g. what role does animal symbolism play in Steinbeck

I personally love college.

But for a research assignment, write about something you want to know more about.

Maybe you could write about Edgar Allan Poe? He's interesting.

Poe rocks. There is this weird song I heard one day and I was all "Where the heck did this song come from, I've never heard this before...." and then I yelled "ITS THE RAVEN!" And everyone looked at me odd.... it was a song quoting the poem... it was AWESOME!

I had to do a similar project and I chose the short story, "A Perfect Day for Bananafish." Then I built on the story in connection with current rates of PTSD in returning vets and current views on PTSD vs views of PTSD at the time.

I had to do that for my class in the winter. The hard part is finding all the information, writing will be easier once you have all your research done. Find a topic with many resources. The more information you have, the more you can write. Once you've done your research, your issue won't be writing, it will be to stop writing. At least that was my experience... She required 10 pages, I ended up writing 15! And then had to cut it down. I enjoyed learning about my topic, which was fathers' rights and responsibilities. Good luck!
