My 6year old sons forskin still doesn't retract. I was told by his pedi it would be around 2. Then by 5years. And now he's 6 and a half and it still hasn't retracted yet.

According to google the average age is 10.

I'm not planning to have my son circumcised, so I'm just curious, but how do you know if it does or doesn't? I see questions like this all the time... Do you just ask him? Ugh.... Having a boy seems scary. Sorry if that sounded weird.

It can take up until after puberty in some cases for it to retract. As long as he isn't uncomfortable, I wouldn't even worry about it. :)

My sons is pulling back now. He is 5 and yes I ask him I still have to tell him how to wash himself and since he has had issues with his circumcision in the past whic is why I'm dealing with an uncircumcised now lol. I like to make sure everything is going how it's supposed to so we don't end up with more problems down the road.

Ok, thanks for answering my question. :) All the boys in my family are circumcised and DH had his done when he was 12; I don't think he remembers much about it. No idea who to ask on this kind of stuff.

thats me. :) 18 kids; Edmonton, Alberta 3012 posts

good to know. My dad told me that I had to pull the skin back for my kid.....I asked the doctor, and he said that it could retract on its own, just leave it alone!!

Ok. I know I probably won't feel as weird about such stuff once he's here. It's just the idea of it.

Oh that's good to know then thanks! I started to panicky a bit thinking it might've been fused and he'd have to have a circ and this age

Haha yea I'm sure when he was a baby I thought it would be weird I'm still looking at his bits at 6years old but now you just don't think twice about it lol

Well, I'm glad I'm not crazy, then! :D

I'm seriously not looking forward to explaining things to my family. They already look at me funny for cloth diapering even though I was cloth diapered... They're going to spazz when they find out I'm not circumcising. Oh well...

Oh yea that can be a HUGE issue ay? I'm not really sure what the big deal is, do it or don't, ya know? It's not the done thing in New Zealand. If my SO wanted our son circ'd I would've gone with what he wanted.
Boys seen kind of foreign to me now since I had 2 girls after him lol

DH wants it done as of now, but I don't think I will have trouble convincing him of why I don't want to. He's usually pretty on board when I explain to him why I want to do or not do something in relation to the kids, I'm just nervous about this one. I've been leaving a circumcision facts website open on the computer for like a week just to kind of hint at it so he would bring it up, but so far he hasn't taken the bait. :? Guessing I'm going to work up the nerve to bring it up this weekend.
