I guess if you aren't from Canada you can give input too.. but someone on facebook im talking to is from Ontario, Canada and is trying to find a way to get her child some testing done and her insurance won't cover it... she is wanting to know if there is some type of govt assistance she might be able to get help from, or ideas on how to raise the money.. she said it looks like its gonna be about 700.00 to get her child tested... anyone in Canada have any insight i could give her?

I've never heard of anything, but I don't know the answer.

We get baby bonus though and $700 isn't that much...

Most of our medical needs are paid for through our government. And most insurances cover what they won't (not always..)

I wonder what sort of testing it is for it not to be covered.

My mom never had to pay for testing for my brother. He has NLD (non verbal learning disorder). The only hard part she had was getting him a laptop for school (which he never ended up getting). I really can't remember what she had to do because it was almost 9 years ago...... but I do know she never had to pay. Is she only covered by OHIP?

Baby bonus is close to 400$/child isn't it?

For CCTB and universal depending on your income is upwards of $500/m per child!

it depends on yours and your spouses income

everyone's is different. Everyone gets $100 then the other is decided by your income.

I know some people who only get $30 a month then plus the $100

I did an estimate a few months ago and I'd only be getting around 100$/month cause of SO's income

I made the mistake once of filing as common law, never again! lol

You get jewed at tax time hard and for child tax. The one year with BD my income was less than his, so he had to claim me as a dependant with our daugter and although he had worked the whole year he only got $50 back because of it

sorry post and run... kiddo was into stuff....

she posted this.. .(this isn't a friend, just a lady i seen posting in a group i was in on fb)

I need to come up with a lot of money for testing for SPD for my boys. They need it to get a dual diagnosis of ASD/SPD for school, so that they have more programs open to them. It has been determined that they both need to be in special classes (Ty now, AJ in the future). Thing is, without the right paperwork, it's really hard to get into. Unfortunately, the SIPT (Sensory Integration Praxis Test) is not covered by our provincial health care or my private benefits. Each test is 700.00. May be able to get some funding for AJ, since he is not yet in school. Unfortunately, Tyler's case is urgent, as we are trying to get him into one of those classes this year, and the sooner we have his testing done, the better. Any suggestions on what I can do to raise the money?

Till All the Pieces Are in Place- Unique Autism Awareness Accessories Thank you so much. This is the link for her rates and prices, in case anyone is wondering where I got this figure from. This test is just the beginning of what he needs. http://childrenstherapy.ca/about/rates-policies/

Maybe she could try having a local fundraiser to raise the money. It's not a ridiculous amount of money so I'm sure she could get it quick enough

So she needs $1400? Because she needs to have both her children tested?

Or suggest selling things like somone above said

That's too bad they don't cover it. Hope she can find a way to raise the money!
