I had back labor with my daughter, and it was hell. I made it with no pain meds, but it was sooo hard...

ok so now for my dumb question lol, am I more likely to have back labor this time, since I had it last time? Or is it just random that it happens?

Every pregnancy is different and every labor is different.

I was told back labour was baby's position, being posteria (spine against spine)
I don't know if that's true. I had it with my second, thank god I had a quick labour! My third it started out in my back but soon started wrapping around my Tummy.

I'd say it's just random, but I also imagine that if you had it with one, you're likely to have it again... but I'm no doctor or expert in any way.

I think that's true (the spine against spin thing) because my daughter came out face up, and they said at some point (I was really out of it lol) that I was having back labor because the hardest part of her head (the back) was pressing against my spine/bottom/back... however they worded it.

It just made labor pure hell. The contractions alone I could've handled without crying haha but the back labor on top of them, was just too much. I'm pretty sure I couldn't even keep my eyes open during them.

I remember having my eyes closed too lol. I had a water birth with her, I think it really helped! Helped me relax. But I also had some gas which was amazeballs but I don't believed that's offered in the states unfortunately! Because that shiz is gold!
I screamed for an epidural then she was born like 10 seconds later lol. They say 2nd babies are much faster deliveries! But my labour with her was hard and fast. An hour and a half of straight-into-it 3min apart back contractions lasting a minute.

I had back labor too and my nurse said it was bc baby was sunny side up (spine against spine). I'm due to give birth any moment and this baby is sunny side up so far too. I have a different dr this time and she said same thing....probably will have back labor. Sucks but at this point (41weeks 4 days) I'd take any kind of labor lol

It can be random.but my sil.had 2 back.to back babies before they realised her uterus is an odd shape which means babies naturally go into the back to back position. X

Odd shape how? (sorry curiosity) I found out shortly after having my first that my uterus is upside down, would that affect labor?

I honestly.dont know lol.she just said it exactly.like that!! I suppose its like the woman who always have breech babies because of their uterus shape. She was in labour for days and days with both of them and has been told the next (they adviced her there shouldnt be a next due to gallbladder wnd thyroid issues but if she was to) would be a csection for sure x

My fear is that it's more likely with a subsequent pregnancy, but it makes more sense that it all depends on factors going on with that baby's lie etc. I had back labor too. It was hard to get through it, but warm water helped a lot.

I had my baby lol and the back labor happened again and was a million times worse. Still made it with zero pain meds though. Hope you have a luckier experience!!
