How long until they stop crying about daycare? SailorJerry 2 kids; California 17296 posts

My 3 year old has been in daycare for the first time in his life for about a month now. He knows the routine of getting ready and grabbing his backpack to go and cries the entire drive there, but stops once I leave. His daycare provider was actually mine when I was 5 years old and she was teaching at the private kinder/pre k I attended. She ended up branching out and starting her own daycare through her home. I grew up with her boys and our families are friends. I say all that because someone told me maybe he cries because something is going on there, which I know isnt the case. How long before he gets settled in and doesn't cry about going? Im glad she texts me throughout the day giving me peace of mind, and he is extremely vocal for his age to many people's surprise and can easily tell me about his day when I pick him up.

My now 5 year old started kindergarten this year and he was fine but last year he went to preschool and he cried everyday for 2 months. I finally pulled him out after 2 months. He's doing great in kindergarten. I just don't think he was ready last year.

Well, I figure he'll get used to it eventually. Besides, I work and he has no other choice haha

I am lucky. I am a sahm so I was able to do that. I don't know what I would have done if I was working.

Give it about 2 months.

Second daycare my kids went to my girls were crying when I picked them up and dropped them off and never ended they hated it, I gave them a month or 2 to get settle into the daycare and nothing they constantly cried.

Moved, them to another daycare (which is there current daycare) and they haven't cried at all not even on the first day. They have been at their current daycare for 2 yrs now give or take a few months and still no real complaints.

Probably not much longer BUT one of my daughters classmates cried for MONTHS. Everything was fine but her "thing" was to cry hard for about 5 minutes each day. Then she was happy and silly and having a great time.

Were going on about 6month and my son still occasionally cries. He has been in daycare since he was 6 months, but with a private provider. She moved out of state so he is in a center now, he cried daily for a good 2 months. But they tell me as soon as I left he was fine.

If I let him stay home on Mondays (dad doesnt work Mondays) he will cry Tuesday...just depends what kind of mood he is in.

He is 3, btw/

She was asking for advice not if you're a sahm! Anways... Op my son stopped crying about 2 months after he started. He would cry like your son on the way there but as soon as I left he was fine. Good luck! It will get better for him.
