Quoting Trixie7678:" But I think the point is, where do you draw the line? Yeah, taking an extra tube of blood does not hurt you in any way but what if next time its giving you a med without discussing it with you?"

I would never take a medicine I did not want.

If this is coming down to a babys welfare, test me all you want, idgaf.

right, but like the OP said, this was against her knowledge. So the med would be given to you with out any prior discussion and without your knowledge. So the Dr. is making a medical decision without your consent...

Again, if it comes down to the welfare of a baby, Idc. Not all mothers stay clean during their pregnancies, but knowing that I am clean, you can drug test me all day and it wouldn't bother me.

It would bother me, yes. Did they have reason to believe I am on drugs? If not, why do it at all? And why wouldn't they tell me? You can't just take people's blood/urine and do what you want with it without their consent.

So are treatments (not tests) okay if the Dr, decides its for the welfare of your pregnancy or your baby?

I would be mad if I was given any type of test or procedure that I didn't consent to.

Unfortunately, they get away with things like this because a) the state laws being made are clearly in violation of our rights and b) they use strange wording in the paperwork you fill out and sign.

I wouldn't care because drugs would never be found in my system. I don't think it's a big deal but again, that's probably because I don't do drugs.

Nobody deserves privacy to take drugs that are going to harm their fetus, IMO.

They should have to have probable cause. That was my point.

Of course they do.

That baby is your body until it takes its first breathe.

Which is shit, but you don't have to take it & that's also not an open invitation to fill your body with illegal drugs.

I just a don't get it... Let your baby snort lines & you're a horrible c**t... You snort lines during pregnancy and it's perfectly acceptable because it's your body. Um no..

Why does child protection only start at birth? If someone has chosen to take a pregnancy to full term why doesn't the baby have a right to safety & good health inside of the womb? It's just bullshit.

If you're that much of a selfish prick that you would jeopardise the health of your fetus... You don't deserve kids.

Not you obviously, just generally speaking.
