The "Voice of the Scout" survey starts TODAY for all current members of the Boy Scouts of America.

If you are actively registered with the BSA, it's critical that you complete this survey. The results will be used as part of the decision-making process on whether to change the anti-gay membership policies at the BSA's annual meeting in May.

Request your copy of the survey here:

http://scouting.us.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_0lecWOay3bPbczP

To participate, you will need your membership ID number (or if you are a parent, your Scout's ID number). The survey will close on April 4th, so please request your copy right now and forward this information to other current BSA members.

Not a scout mama, I won't let my boys join because of that policy, but I just wanted to say good luck to you guys.

I'm a scout leader and mother of a gay child. :) I just want to get this out so maybe we can get this policy changed!

Well good for you! I hope so. It's really crappy how it goes. My mother is a lesbian, and I was excluded because of that as a child. It isn't fair, at all. My fear is that it won't change the mindsets of a lot of people though, even if they do change their policy. If they change it they'll have to stand strong in that decision like the girl scouts did.

My husband is an Eagel Scout. Would he be current, or is it only people who are actively in scouts at the moment??

Last week I asked my scouts if they would care if there was a g*y b*y in the troop or if they had a gay leader and they all said "no what does being gay have to do with loving camping and learning great life skills!" Why do teenage boys get what some adults can't grasp?

I'm not sure. If he has his membership number he can try.

That is amazing. And kids usually grasp it better because they haven't grown into bigotry yet. Kids aren't hateful by nature. The other day we were talking about something, I don't even remember at this point, but it was my husband and I and our daughter happened to hear us and was appalled to learn people actually discriminate against gays and lesbians. I am glad that at 10, she has never ever heard discrimination, but it does make me sad that there are plenty of kids having the discrimination drilled into their head.

I wish I knew my brothers member number... (he's 13 yrs old) so at least I could be against my parents and their against gay rights bull crap. Both of them are scout leaders. So help me if they vote against this.

I really hope that the RIGHT things are done within the BS community. It's such a good thing for boys and GIRLS (Venturing Scout Vet here. :3).

Gah. I have my fingers crossed.
