I refused testing with my daughter. I wanted her no matter what. I was doing a home birth and now realize how stupid it was not to pre screen. I paid for a 3D ultrasound and found something odd that wasn't detected with my first anatomy scan. I had to get a level two done and we found out that her intestines never attached together and she had a hole in her lower chambers of her heart. Both things were common with Down syndrome. By this time I was 31 weeks and there was nothing I could do even if I wanted to. I didn't get any further testing til after she was born and it turned out she had that extra chromosome. I am so happy she was given to me. It's not for everyone and I understand some people can't handle the thought of raising a special needs child. To me it just came naturally.

I have a down syndrome baby, I didn't know when I was pregnant that he had it but I wudnt change him for the world he is amazing, most people terminate because of the scary things they hear but they are just like any other child. my baby is 9 months old now and he is perfect.

I think you should have it confirmed again to see if it's definitely 100% Down syndrome then decide! I think you shouldn't be selfish and just think in your own way, but should consider how your child feels when he/she is older as well. If its a major Down syndrome effecting disability it's best to terminate before they're born. Nowadays even for normal human being we can hardly survive so how can a child with special needs survive themselves when they're older. We now have the down syndromes screening test for moms-to-be to know if their baby is having any disability and giving us a choice to terminate instead of bringing them into the world with an illness that will effect their lives forever. I know it's never an easy decision for any parents to make but like I said you should think what's best for your baby/child down the tracks and not just looking at your own views! That's just my opinion though!
