labor started & then stopped? KelseyLynn 1 child; Douglasville, Georgia 558 posts

My contractions were so strong. I dialated to 3 & then 4 hours into it EVERYTHING stopped. My contractions completely quit. I didn't dialate anymore. They offered potocin or however you spell it. I refused cause I'm not even due yet. So they sent me on home. Has this happened to anyone else? They said it was "non progressive labor"?

I didn't have that happen. (I didn't even have a choice on the pitocin, either... grr) but I know it does happen. You'll probably have real labor soon. (Good choice turning the pitocin down, btw...)

That happened to me kind of I was contracting every minuet but I stopped dilating turns out the cord was wrapped around his neck, he was to big to go any lower and his heart rate started dipping I needed an emergency C-section

I don't want any drugs unless needed. My nurse got real bitchy when I said that :/

I was having contractions 10 minutes apart for a week an then they finally moved to seven minutes apart. They stopped and I thought I was never going to go into real labor. My water broke the next morning.

Since you're labor stalled, a natural method you could try is nipple stimulation. It won't work if your body isn't ready to start back up with labor again. I certainly don't blame you for declining the Pitison, yuck.
15 - 30 minutes each side, easier with a breast pump but still possible without one.
