SO's family call Lucas boy. It infuriates me. If I wanted him to be called boy, I would have named him that!

My first thought was the way they portrayed the slave owners calling the slaves "boy". Made me cringe.

to me i dont like it i never have. I feel like they have a name for a reason but i also call my 2 year old bubba and i guess thats the same as saying boy if your using it as a nickname.

I just didn't think about it like that but I would never want to make anyone uncomfortable like that

I've never heard it with anything but negative connotations so that may be why I don't like it

No big deal, my brother is 32 almost 33 and he still gets called "boy"

I call my girl "woman" often enough, like "yo woman" lol

Me too. Which is part of why I hate it so much. I have a name. Be respectful and use it. Same for calling your kid "boy" all the time. It just make grates at me every time I hear it.

I honestly did not think of it that way but I hated being called woman by my ex. It was always 'Go make me a sandwich woman' or 'Hey woman, is there a reason your not in the kitchen?' & his all time favorite 'You women & your silly pms is just an excuse to be a bitch for a week'

He had zero respect for women
