Interesting 18 in 2001 but your profile puts you at 28. Explain how thats possible when that was 12 years ago?

Yep, you're just a liar trying to sound cool on the internet. So sad for you.

Quoting shes*almost*one!:" where do your family live? what is your husband wanting to do after the military? are you excited or scared?"

Excited or scared about what? Him getting out? I'll let you know in 9.5 yrs when he retires---His contract isn't up for a little less than 1 more year and with no good job prospects right now, he'll reenlist and by the time that contract is up he'll have 15 yrs in...doesn't make sense to get out when you're 5 years to retirement.

And after the military he will get a civilian job doing what he does now if he doesn't start his own firm. Unless he makes his millions investing his reenlistment bonus in the stock market.

Quoting ⚓ Sarah ⚓:" We have family scattered but mostly in FL, MO and CO. We can only go to visit usually after a deployment ... [snip!] ... needs issues flying isnt a option yet so we drive. I hate it :( We'll likely get out and move to CO to be closer to family."

We drive every year for Christmas because we can't afford to fly really. We go Dec1-Jan1 every year. Except this year since I'm pregnant and high risk (thus can't travel away from my doc). DH got home in August and hasn't seen his family in like 14 months now and won't see them til at least June. We were hoping his family would be able to come out here for his homecoming, but they didn't want to impose (I BEGGED them to come and they felt like they'd be intruding on our family time...but I suspected we'd get knocked up quickly and not be able to travel, so I wanted them to be here to welcome him hom ---then get gone and stay gone so we could baby-make :D)

Quoting JessicaRabbitBNH:" so far it doesnt seem to be taking place here. the jets are still flying constantly."

The helicopters here are definitely fewer than they used to be. We see a few a day now and it used to be almost constant during working hours. They're definitely cutting flight hours and rationing fuel here.

The Artillery Range behind my house is a lot quieter than normal right now too.

Quoting JessicaRabbitBNH:" Whats even sadder is when you google the average salary of a fire station Lt... saying 200,000 is really laughable. Try 34,000."

I have SO many firefighters in my family...when she said 200K I was like "damn! I'm gonna have to tell my family to relocate to wherever she is :D

60K is the most I've heard of for a fire-fighter where I come from.

Time travel. And she was clearly flying the Arabs on her magic carpet. Don't judge. She has a genie.

She's always been nice to me, but the inconsistencies are way too common and way too obvious for me to defend her. As inconsistent as she is, she's been nice to ME.
of course, if she were a c**t to me, with my history and reputation here, I'm pretty sure BG would set her on fire telepathically.

I guess my statement was wrong. DH said today they have cut back on flying hours. They closed the commissary on certain days. Raised costs on food there, too. They closed 2 gates to get on base & have left the housing side of base (seperate from main base) without security at the gate. So anyone can just drive/walk on. And anyone has. And like in most areas, the surrounding area of our base is less than desirable. Full of strip clubs, bars, slums, etc. we're going to move because its just not safe anymore

You don't remember hearing planes on 9/12/01?

Living in the flight path, surely you would.

Here they opened up the military housing to DOD employees and prior service... It's weird it's not just AD now. Dh and I got out at the right time I guess -shrug-

If they are living the "lavish" lifestyle (which I highly doubt it, my mom's an army brat and her parents worked multiple jobs to support the family), it is because they earned it.

That's weird. Here, several of the housing villages are off post, so there aren't gates or security. Luckily, we're on an area of post that is gated. I'm used to fort Carson where all housing is on post.
