Selective termination means essentially aborting one of more of fetus in a multiple pregnancy.
Some might choose selective termination for instance is you became pregnant with quadruplets.
Some might choose selective termination for medical reasons (i.e. one twin is not triving and is detrementally effecting the healthy twin)
How do you feel about selective termination?
What if someone was pregnant with twins but decided they only wanted 1 child? So they selectively terminated the second?
I can understand why. But, I wouldn't do it.
Quoting Smartass *Preggo!*:" Selective termination means essentially aborting one of more of fetus in a multiple pregnancy. Some ... [snip!] ... What if someone was pregnant with twins but decided they only wanted 1 child? So they selectively terminated the second?"
if it was absolutely medically necessary , than I can agree. But otherwise , no . thats just me & my opinion
To each their own. I'd have to be in the situation to know exactly what I'd do, but right now I could never.
Its basically an abortion. I wouldn't do it myself but I support the option to have it done. There really is no difference IMO
I support the option but could never personally do it. I understand why.
I wouldn't do it but I don't judge those who choose to.
I think it's fine. If a woman doesn't want more than one baby at a time she should have the option to reduce. Same as if she just doesn't want to be pregnant at all, she should hav the option to terminate. Her reasons are no concern of mine.
It may not be something that I would choose for myself, but I can understand why some would in certain situations.
There are so many reasons why someone would do it that I couldn't judge it.
Pregnancies with multiples can be more complicated and taxing on the body. The chance of premature birth is higher. In terms of money, it's more kids and potentially time off work for bed rest.
As for medical termination, sometimes the best outcome is only one healthy baby. It's awful but it happens.
Tough situation all the way around.
I'm pro choice. Her body her choice.
I wouldnt do it.
It would either be multiple babies or no baby. Medical or not.
However, I wouldnt care if anyone else did it for any reasons.
I just couldnt live with one child knowing I took away his twin. It would eat me alive.
It's fine for any reason.
I don't give a shit what someone does with their own body. Hopefully they would use some discretion as far as gestation and such but it is what it is..
It's no different than abortion, I definitely thought of that possibility.
But I couldn't deal with the moral choice of deciding who gets to live and who doesn't.
If it is medically necessary then yes but otherwise, I wouldn't do it. It would have to be something where say I had twins and one as thriving and one wasn't(meaning wasn't going to survive in the womb or once he/she was born) but the one that wasn't was starting to effect the healthy one and if I didn't do something both would not survive. I really don't see how you could choose one over the other though like you were having triplets but you didn't want to so you just terminate 1 or 2, I couldn't do it.
