That's the responsibility I'm thinking. As bad as my baby fever is right now, I know what my responsibility is should I get pregnant.

Even the stupid can do it.

Well, that's taking it to the extreme now, isn't it?

Here I was assuming we were talking about the average unwanted pregnancy.

Those are special situations, and even then, my personal choice would be to carry the child. But that's when it comes down to it being the woman's choice. Not when fun, happy, free to be you and me love making goes down, and she finds herself pregnant because of it. Then, honestly, you need to be responsible enough to take the child's needs into regards. Within the special situations, I think there has to be some leniency. But again, I would put myself on the end of carrying the child.

I'm not here to judge anyone for having an abortion, but hey! When my opinion is asked for...

By "survive on one's own", it means they can breathe and physically function outside of the womb. It doesn't mean little Charlie Jr., 5 weeks old, is going to get a job and support himself.

True, but the ability to have sex for reasons other than procreation is unique to humans and dolphins.

Seriously, dolphins are the only other species known to have sex for pleasure.

I use sex for recreational purposes. I also take proper precautions. If one slips up into my uterine walls and plants itself, I'm going to the responsible thing and make a trip to PP.

LOL.

I personally wasn't even talking about being able to breathe on their own. I would consider a life that can be saved with medical intervention to still be a life. If they're on a breathing machine, they're not technically surviving on their own, but they are still alive.

Some ape species masturbate and even participate in gang rapes.

Well, I'm going to cautiously say that the majority of abortions happen for other reasons than rape or possible pregnancy fatality. So in that case, it is not the general reason for having an abortion. To be honest, and I'll say this as a woman who's had quite a few friends get abortions, the general reason to have one is so that you don't deal with everything that comes with pregnancy. NOT because you were raped, or that you have some rare condition that will kill you if you deliver the child. Feel free to prove otherwise! :D

True. Technically anything with a metabolic system is alive.

Random science fact: You know how when you buy a cleaner, sometimes they advertise it "kills 99.9% of bacteria and viruses"? Well, that's completely false advertising, because viruses aren't actually alive. So they can't be "killed!" Viruses attach themselves to a living cell; without that cell, they simply "exist."

Sorry, nerd moment over.

At conception.
For me it's biblical, or religious, however you'd like to put it.
"Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you we're born I set you apart, I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5
"Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in Your book, before one of them came to be." Psalm 139:16
To me, it's saying that God formed us from the beginning, we were each given a soul from the moment we were conceived, and we are each considered a human being in his eyes from the moment of our conception. The site below gives some good info on the biblical point of view, and it sites a lot more verses if you need them.

Agreed.
