New show looking for white videos Minion Due September 30 (girl); 2 kids; ., GA, United States 21454 posts

SO and I found a new(?) show on TruTV that has Shaq hosting a show where he and a couple other guys search the web for hilarious videos. It's an awesome show and I love it. One segment got me thinking, though. The segment was about the guys (3 black dudes and a white guy) finding the "whitest" videos. Like white people doing "white" things that's stupid and funny. They also threw aroun the word "white honky" a few times too. It didn't bother me too much, but if that segment was turned the other way and white guys were finding videos of people being stereotypically black and throwing around racial words, that show would be off the air quicker than it was on.

I asked SO if he noticed it too and he did. He didnt find it racist either, but he said he knew of a lot of people who would think so.

Thoughts? Do you think it's a form of racism or no?

Sure it is. It doesn't bother me one way or another, though.

Not really. The racial slurs were unnecessary but I laugh at white people doing white things, black people doing black things, hispanic people doing hispanic things, etc etc.

I don't understand why this didn't really bother you. Do you not find this racist, but you would if it were about a different race?

It was more stereotypical than racist IMO. I laugh at white people doing white things, asians doing asian things, hispanics doing hispanic things, black people doing black things & canadian bacon lol :D its stereotypical but in a lot of cases its true.

I've never seen Tosh.0. It never really sparked my interest.

I don't think it is a form of racism persay but, definitely a double standard.

It would be racist for white people to create a White Entertainment Television station or, cloud magazine. Yet, there is Black Entertainment Television and JET magazine.

It's the same if a black person were to say, "Damn, white people are crazy." People over look it but, if a white person says, "Black people are crazy" it would be racist.

Like I said. Racist? No. But, definitely a double standard.

Meh, I don't really consider it racist. Or in the very least I wouldn't be offended by it, but then again I have a diverse group of friends and we all make fun of each other for doing White, Black, Hispanic, whatever things...

My black friend got pulled over for eating a piece of chicken while driving, he got a $40 ticket. I asked him if they got him for sipping on his purple drink, too. Idk, maybe I just have an odd set of friends...

It's definitely racist.

However, I'm not about to get my panties twisted over it. They're not doing it to be mean, they're doing it for a laugh. If they were trying to make people feel BAD about their white-ness, I'd be pretty peeved. But hey, sometimes....stereotypes are there for a reason. Maybe I should submit a video of SO dancing, cause...man, that's REALLY white. Talk about WHY the stereotype exists! hahaha

Not really. A lot of white people may think that though but really, us black folk just really do not care.

Yeah the racial slurs is pretty much what got me thinking about this. I was like, wait what? It's a good show, but it could have done without that. I still laughed, though, because the clips they picked were ridiculous. Lol like one was a white dude drinking and ice skating on a lake with a chainsaw, then he fell through the ice.

The real reason there's no White Entertainment Television is because if I'm watching WET I expect some porn. BET sounds cooler & less vulgar

I don't offend very easily, but it did grab my attention.
