'Matching' names Madi's*Mama Due November 2; 1 child; Holland, Michigan 7391 posts

So just curious on what others think of names that match or all start with the same letter. I always swore that I would never have my kids all start with the same letter but DH and I were talking about baby names and just so happens that we like M names. DDs name is Madeline lol Not a lot goes with our last name (you'll have to take my word for it :) ) but we really like Mackenzie for a girl or Mason for a boy. I don't see us changing our minds because we discussed this when I was still pregnant with DD  :) I'm just curious to see others opinion on this.

I wouldn't do it.

Matching names is super tacky IMO.
But if I had twins, I'd probably give them names that start with the same letter. Similar, but not matching or rhyming.

I don't love matchy matchy names. I wouldn't do it unless I absolutely LOVED the name for the subsequent child.

I do think names should have a sort of "flow" to them. Like, I wouldn't name one kid Emma and then the other something off the wall. KWIM?

I think its cute until you get to the point where you have so many kids that you start making weird stuff up that really does not make sense.

There's this family that goes to our church and they have like 8 kids I believe and they all start with M. There's no way I could do that but I guess once you get into the pattern you kind of have to keep it, huh?

Like that 18 kids and counting family....they should have moved on to a new letter long long ago...

I'm having the same problem. I really like the name Moira but dd is Matilda.

if it's names you love, go for it. if DD had been a twin, i'd have had a Lillian and Lucia- Lily and Lucy. LOVED the idea. now though, i wouldn't use Lucia because i have Lily. though using the 1st letter i think is fine.

My boys don't start with the sane letter but they go together I have a Colton and Logan. I never liked having kids that started with the same letter

I'm really hoping for a boy this time and Mason just sounds nice with our last name plus we can use Scott as the middle name to help keep the tradition from DH's family going. DH is Scott, his dad's middle name is Scott so I think it would be nice to use it.
