I wouldn't want someone to "spank" me. So, I don't do it to my kids.

To each their own.

I don't but they are actually well behaved. We barely do time outs. I don't care what other parents do. Some kids need a spanking in order to shape up.

Not offended. I just don't see how you can expect to get an honest answer from a parent who spanks when you start out the entire post being judgmental.

Well really, with an OP like that what is your point? To have moms say they spank so you can be all self righteous and tell them how wrong they are and how right you are. You know, since you have a one year old and all and MUST know the proper forms of child rearing.

We did and then realised it really wasnt doing anything. Our kid is just stubborn and wont listen at all wether you redirect, be super nice or scream. Nothing works. It got to the point where when he is in trouble he cringes so I told DH we need to stop because i dont want people thinking we are abusing him or something.

We use time-out in our house. I won't say I've never swatted a butt or hand, but it's not something that we do regularly.

Honestly, when I first had my first child, I thought like the OP - then reality hit lol

My kids are WILD, crazy, insanely active boys. They don't care to listen to reason, they scoff at time outs. A time out in thier locked bedroom usually works, but for things that need an immediate action (like my youngest climbing a storage unit today) or things that involve danger - yep, they get a spanking.

I have spanked my almost 5 year old, but it's not a normal form of discipline here. I don't care what other people do. Their child, their problem. Every kid is different.

We redirect, use time outs, and spank. Why? Because it's what works for our family.
