I went to meet with the surgeon today. I honestly was expecting to have to try and convince him that I needed to have my gallbladder removed. That was NOT the case though. He said the time is perfect and he wanted to do it immediately. And when I say immediately, I'm talking Monday morning 6 am. Kind of scary, but glad that it'll be over. My husband is scared and really worried. He said something that really hurt, though I don't think he meant it to hurt like it did, at first it was a joke, but then he admitted it was true a few seconds later :? He said if something happens to the baby he'll hate me forever. Great, thanks babe.

I could see why he'd be concerned, I've never heard of anyone having major surgery(any surgery to me is major surgery) while pregnant but if it's life or death for you I would see this being absolutely necessary! it's not fair that he had to go and make you feel bad though..

Yikes! What terrible thing to fret over. I'm sure it will be fine. People have surgeries all the time during pregnancies, of course it's not ideal, but they will be extra careful with you in your state.

Wow they are willing to do the surgery while you are pregnant!? What bullshit! lol

I have a massive incisional hernia and they won't touch me till after I have the baby :( It's gotten three times bigger since it developed in the last 2 months, I'm terrified to think how big it'll be by july :((( It already sticks out more than the baby does, I've named it my Lovely Lady Lump

feel like that damn Lumpy Princess from Adventure time lol

It's actually quite frequently done while pregnant because pregnancy can really aggravate it. And he didn't mean to make me feel bad, it just kind of came out. This will be my 3rd surgery he's gone through since June 2011. And before that I'd only had one, and I was 9 years old.

omg I read that too fast and thought you said you had your other child at 9 years old LOL

Did the surgeon say he was going to do the surgery laprascopically?

Yeah, he said he's done several. And he was recommended by my OB so I trust their judgement.

They have me on Norco right now. And I know percocet is also safe for pregnancy, and breastfeeding since I'm doing both.

Yeah they are doing it laprascopically. He checked to make sure my uterus was still far enough away from my belly button, and it is. Since they're going away from it though, up, it lessens the danger. And they're doing it before because it affects me being able to eat even now, and is aggravated much more by being pregnant.

Yeah everyone keeps saying that. I'm anxious to experience that myself. It's been going on for years. I'm also going to start having a few bites of something an hour to keep from having issues with the bile now that the gallbladder will be gone. If I'd known years ago to do that, maybe I could have avoided this.

My pregnancy was horrible. Hyperemesis, losing weight like crazy (34lbs from weeks 5-13), PICC line put in, overall 12 ER visits, 5 hospital stays (not including labor/delivery)...and pancreatitis. The pancreatitis was caused by my gallbladder. I had my gallbladder out when I was 14 weeks pregnant.

For the surgery, they didn't put me out until I was actually in the OR since the med they usually use before the OR wasn't really safe for baby. My surgery was done laparoscopically.

Hope everything goes well for you!

I wasn't worried until he said what he did :? I've heard of a lot of women having it done and it all being fine so that's always good to know :)
