Buy your son a gift that is from the new baby. I have also seen people get a baby doll that they roll play with to get him used to sharing attention.

For the first week or so my daughter tried getting everyone to take her baby brother home with them.

I just reminded her that her baby brother loves her so much, and always made sure to include her in everything.

We bought him a present, and mcdonalds we said it was frm his lil sister,
dean was 3 when we had jade he was obsessed with her for maybe half an hour, then went about his business lol

3 years is a good age gap because the older 1 can play by themelves, and entertain themselves, I had maks when Jade was 21 month, that sucked lol

How adorable. :)

Alyssa was afraid to come near me when I was in the hospital. She was afraid she was going to hurt me or something. Which of course that made me worry. I had a fear that she would think her baby brother was something bad who hurt mommy.

we bought our son a cabbage patch kid to practice on. He loved his baby and it taught him to be gentle.

My oldest had never really been around babies either. He was the baby. He did so great. He loved to help. He was super proud when he was able to do little things like grabbing a clean diaper or handing me a baby wipe. He liked to be involved.

my son will (hopefully) be 3 when this baby comes (hes 3 in april and i'm due may but been having complications and theres a high chance baby may come early)! i've had my son help me with putting together the baby crib and dresser and stuff too! i'm hoping he'll be helpful and stuff like he already is now! hes very well behaved for a 2 year old, but still nerve wracking! :P

I let my son help pick out what to get his brother..matter of fact we still do that. I even let him pick out his pjs at night.

Just make sure he still feels loved and secure and involve him so he feels like a big helper!

We let him help daddy put together his bassinet(with play tools) :) it was really sweet. He did great..our boys are 28 months apart.

I chose not to be proactive with involvement. I just let him get diapers and wipes. I let him give him a pacifier on occasion and he'd turn on his playgym music, ect. Little things only..he didnt like to hold him, just sit by him. I didnt want him thinking he could pick him up or change him or anything like that.. Ive known kids that have though it was ok to hold their newborn siblings..pick them up, change their clothes..at 3. I just find that scary  they dunno how to support their heads or be careful at that age.

I had my 3 year old pick out a present for his baby brother and I picked out presents for my oldest and said it was from my newborn so they both had gifts when they saw each other for the first time. My 3 year old also likes to help so I will let him hand me the diaper and what not when I am changing my nb's diaper and then have him throw the dirty diaper in the trash and so on.

omfg dean did that, i started letting him pick out clothes for her when i was preg, it was sooo cute, but now he's going to be 7 and she's going to be 3, and they either are fighting about her not liking what he wants her to wear, orrrrrr, because im a bad mother because i have no idea where the fawk i can find Ninja turtle pajamas with pink ruffles because thats what he expects to see on his sister
