Ultrasound at hospital tomorrow.. KaytZombie Malvern, Ohio 36 posts

So, I have an u/s appointment scheduled by my OB at the hospital for tomorrow morning at 8am. I'm just wondering if I will be allowed to see the screen? I know if you go in through the ER, you aren't allowed to see it. Will it be any different since it's a scheduled u/s?

My reason for having a u/s is because the ER thinks I have an ectopic pregnancy on my right ovary due to the fact that I was 6w2d & all they saw on the screen was an empty sac that they're saying is a pseudo sac because I've had some very light pain & discomfort in my right side for the past week. My hcg is being monitored & has been rising like it should be. My OB told me I'm right in the norm for where my hormones should be at 6 weeks. they were in the 8000s. Tomorrow when i go to the appointment, i will be exactly 7 weeks.

when i went in to the ER for something else they thought i was 6 weeks but i was only 4 and thought the same thing because they saw an empty sac but 2 weeks latter i had another one and was 6 weeks and was fine good luck.

Everywhere is different. I was always allowed to see, even at the ER. But like I said, it varies. Good luck though.

They should!
All of my scheduled ultrasounds were done at the hospital, and after the tech is finished what they need to do they let me and whoever I had waiting have a look at baby.

When I was preg wth the iud in they didn't let me see the screen, she printed out a pix of the baby but never showed me the screen

Same thing happened when they noticed something was wrong with dean, she turned the screen away from me, and gave me a pix told me he was a boy, and told me I would hear from dr. lol...

I have always been allowed to see the screen, whether I was at the doctor's office or the hospital or the ER even...even when they were giving me really, really bad news, I was never not allowed to see the screen.

I've been to the hospital twice now for this pregnancy & went to 2 different hospitals. Both ultrasound techs said "Because you came in through the ER, we cannot let you see the screen." & turned the screen as far as what they could. Maybe it's just a north eastern Ohio thing. I dunno. But it kind of makes me mad because like... it's my body & my baby.

It depends. If they think there's a problem, they may not let you look. At my 2 ultrasounds prior to my anatomy scan, they wouldn't let me see the baby, and those were even done at my OB's office.

I went to a caridologist that deals with babys in utro they always let me see and the dr had to come in at one point to finish my scan and i was allowed to see.

They let me see every ultrasound, even when it's even obvious to the untrained eye something is wrong...my daughter's cystic hygroma, her heart defects, miscarriages in other pregnancies, the problems with this baby...they've not only let me see, they've pointed out what they were talking about.

I'm glad I didn't see deans ultrasound, her facial expression was scary enough, she turned the screen, and I just stared at her after they told me what was wrong with him, I was able to see the screen.

I'd of been pissed if they DIDN'T let me see...like, dammit, if I am going to fight with something for my child, I want to know what the hell I am fighting. All in all, I think it should be left as an option to the parent, not something that is standard...we all respond to situations differently.

I knew something was wrong, it didn't matter what it looked like on the screen, I just had a bad feeling all around, and her face when she started takin measurments was enough for me, I also knew something was up when they wouldn't let my mom in, we thought it was for anatomy scan, I was 12 weeks, as she shooed me out the door, I asked her what the baby was, she was like, "oh, its a boy, u will hear from the dr."
