How to hide quinoa in foods Mommy2Kay Due April 20; 1 child; Florida 4227 posts

DS is a VERY picky eater! His pedi told me to try to give him quinoa, I will try, but I am almost 100% sure he won't even wanna try it. Anyways, how can I incorporate it into a meal, where he would be able to know the difference? I was looking for recipes but didn't find anything. I already bought them so I'm thinking of just grinding them and putting them into beans but I really don't know if that's a good idea. Should I cook them and then blend it all together or grind them and add it when I cook the beans?

Any other ideas?

I make my 14 month smoothies with hidden quinoa.

Greek/natural yoghurt, strawberries, bananas, quinoa flakes and chia seeds and a little water to make it smooth.
She loves them!

He does love milk shakes! I will try to do those. Would it be a bad idea to make a smoothie in the night so he can drink it in the morning? I get up at 6am, I don't have time for it then.

Pinterest has lots of ideas. You can put it in Mac and cheese and banana bread. And make granola. My kids don't even really notice if I put it in muffins or something.

I just realized quinoa flakes are different than what I have.

What can I do with this?

For sure! Just stir it before you give it to him.

If ds likes oats for breakfast you can substitute the quinoa flakes for regular oats. My dd didn't notice the change

This is an amazing recipe.

It bakes like a brownie, I made it yesterday for my birthday cake and no one could tell it was quinoa based.

They make quinoa cookies, noodles, cereals, crackers...and they all taste super good. I eat them all the time because of food allergies, and I actually prefer them over "normal" kinds

That's how I'm going to try it but I doubt I could pull that off. He rather go hungry than try new things and if he does try he will just say he doesn't like so he doesn't have to eat it.
