when people go "they choose to be gay"...I always follow that statement with "did you choose to be straight?" and the answer is normally "no"...so why is it so hard to understand that someone can be born gay?....any opinions on the matter?

It's just ignorance.

Some do choose to be homosexual. My niece CHOOSE to be a lesbian because she said she doesn't want to deal with pieces of shit like her father.

I'd say that's probably the minority, though.

Maybe I think a lot with the younger generations now though they are making a conscious choice more often to be gay or bi because they think it's cool. I wouldn't say that makes them either or if they pick it consciously though. Maybe just... Open? I dunno. I do know it seems like every one of my little sister in law's friends are at least bi while in their teens.

im bi

ive known since i was young that i was attracted to both male and female,

i agree with Op 100%

people will never understand fully, especially if they aren't exposed to it,

I'm also starting to wonder if its not in the blood, we were at my cousins party few weeks ago and my husband noticed like 3 of my cousins were female dressed as men and i have 1 uncle who is in process of switching teams now

But I think usually it goes a bit further than just "choosing" to be gay for whatever reason, you have to be attracted to that sex in order to be gay. I have said many times "maybe I should just become lesbian so I don't have to deal with a dude's douche bagness" but I couldn't become fully lesbian because I am not more physically attracted to women. I think true attraction has to go a bit further than "I choose to be attracted to this gender because dudes are a*****es"

I agree.

No matter how much I might dislike men, I could never become a lesbian. Because I am simply, completely not at all attracted to women.

Being open or curious isnt the same as actually being gay. It takes more than just making a decision to eat p***y everyday and be satisfied with it.

I agree. I just think that more people are choosing that as an option now is all I mean. Deep down attractions, yeah not a conscious choice, but some people may not differentiate the two. Does that make sense? I sure hope it does how I intended it lol

Lol, I guess, *bi-curious & un satisfied*

I've been ok with just dating girls, but its a hard lifestyle to have, my longest relationship was 1 1/2, and it was just weird, we had a condo together as soon as we stepped out, it was all eyes on the carpet munchers, we would go places and we were both I guess *lip stick* instead of male looking and a female, we would get asked not to hold hands or if we kissed, they would ask us to leave, and we would be in adult places not like we were getting down in chuckie cheese lol,
