PPD or PPP. When should you step in? Hathor + A Due December 23 (girl); 16 kids; Spring, Texas 12834 posts

Facebook friends please don't say anything

One of SO's friend's girlfriend just had a baby and I think she has postpartum depression. She has stop bathing, she either gorges herself or stop eating all together, will come out in different stage of dress, she will stare at the baby with a blank look on her face, talk like she is in a trance ,just very odd alarming behavior. I've told her boyfriend my concerns and showed him info but he is admit that she was like the before the baby or blames it on the stress CPS case.

I've offered to watch the baby so she can have a breather but has been turned down. I've tried to tell her that her going to the doctor for PPD isn't going to to be held against her for the CPS case. Do I just give up and look the other way?

CPS will actually hold her NOT getting help against her.

The fact that she has admitted there may be an issue and is seeking assistance for it, will make her look better in their eyes.

no, if everyone keeps looking the other way she could become a danger to herself or her child. If there is already an active case with CPS, I would make a call to them.

Ugh that's hard. I'd tell her getting help won't change the CPA case (not sure what that's about) but neglecting her child or harming herself or her child will. And it could turn to that before she can Even stop herself from doing it. Not worth the risk IMO. I've been in meds for both of my pregs and pp and nobody has ever threatened to take my kids.

That's a difficult spot to be in. You can't force someone to get help. Just just keep encouraging her and try helping as much as you can and keep offering help. Hopefully she will decide to go.

When the baby was born he was positive for THC (weed) so that started all this shit.

Somewhat, she would just smoke to calm down.
