Considering I was a full time nanny for a full time SAHM who had one kid in elementary school all day and another in preschool three days a week... I don't think your situation is weird at all! That one was weird, this one is not :) Having a couple days a week to get errands/chores/meal prep done is great; then you can spend more quality time with your kids and your husband when they are around :)

None of mine are in school yet, but I *hope* that when all four go to school, that I still don't HAVE to work. I'd love to do volunteering (especially at the school) so that I am available whenever they need me. I really like freedom & no attachments so even thinking of one of my kids going to school is sad for me lol!

I have 2 kids in school, and stay home (technically I work at home)

I disagree that having kids in school makes you "not a sahm", you are still a Mother when your kids go to school. I enjoyed being a sahm when my kids started school because I finally had some free time to do whatever the hell I wanted with.

Still though, there is plenty to do with school aged kids, school volunteering, pta, sac (they keep me crazy busy sometimes), activities, transporting them to school and the million and one other places they need to go, and they require plenty of attention, nurturing, raising, and advising and they grow older. And there is still managing the house as well, that does not magically go away when they go to school. You dont have to be bored, you can get out there and live life to the fullest whilst being a sahm.

i totally agree....last year i had a child in each stage of school(highschool, middle school, elemetry, & pre-k) Each school went in at a different time (between 7am , 8am, 8:45am & 3days a week 11:15am) Then they all got out at different times ( 2:10pm,3 pm & 3:35 & 3days a week 1:50pm).......it was a full time job just getting everyone 2 and from school :)

Why?
I enjoy being kept busy. My anxiety is actually worse if I find myself with absolutely nothing to do. I absolutely adore my hectic little schedule right now and I'm loathing summer because it'll slow down a bit.

I have honestly envied people that can just sit down and RELAX. I have a serious inability to do that.

While that "GoGoGo" mentality has gotten me many places and I'm grateful for where I am, I would love to be able to sit down and not feel like I'm being lazy every once in a while.

I feel the same way. During the summer we are always at the park, walking there takes at least half an hour to get there.

During the winter I go stir crazy. Always being indoors. So we usually go to indoor play parks. YAY for them!!

LOL>
This past winter I have kind of learned to slow down, but I know during the summer It will be go-go-go again. Which is going to be fun

I can't do the go-go-go all the time. I am very much a homebody, and my kids pretty much are, too. I like taking them to the park from time to time, but I can't do it every day, maybe once a week.

i take classes also.... that is something I enjoy so i get that.

but as far as someone feeling like they HAVE to "work" that makes no sense to me. Enrich yourself, enjoy yourself but don't work just to feel useful. i don't know just my opinion...
but if working makes you feel better then great! i wouldn't shit on people who don't feel that way. kwim?
