I've varied over the years.
For the first 1.5 years, I never ventured out of my DDB thread. Then I spent the next 1.5 years arguing with 90% of this site on topics that I really didn't care about. Now, I stay with my close circle of friends and tend to comment here and there. I just don't have the energy to try and debate the same topic over and over and over and over again anymore.
I tend to post my thing and move on.
I'll go back and forth if someone has decided I'm completely in the wrong or someone else has made such a ludicrous statement that I must answer it.
If someone disagrees with me on BG I usually don't care. It's their opinion and they're entitled to it, so long as they have a decent reason behind their opinion........however if someone's opinion is based on lies or bad research I feel the need to argue it so that other people reading it know that the afore mentioned person's comment is BS. For example- I am anti circumcison but if someone posted that they are pro circ because they have researched it and decided it's what they want then yay for them. I have no issue with their decision. If someone else however posted that they decided to circumcise their son because all boys with foreskins die of HIV or cancer then I find those kinds of comments to be dangerous to other equally uninformed people who could be reading it.
I don't really debate and I typically avoid spanking/non-spanking, pro-circ/anti-circ, breastfeeding/formula, and usually any other "hot topic" debate that has been done a thousand times before. I mean even when I do comment on my stance it's usually ignored because I stay pretty neutral and there is usually an argument going on already, lol. It's rare that I see successful D&Ds anymore, but it is a pleasant surprise when I do.
The only thing that I'm really passionate about is being pro-choice, but even then there are several other pro-choice women in a thread who are arguing my same view points. So...still, I don't see much of a point to reply. I do enjoy watching, though. It helps me keep an open mind. Hell, when I first joined I was "pro-life".
Quoting Allys_mommy:" my stance is there are a bunch of judgemental women on here that think they are always right and try ... [snip!] ... perfect parenst any of us and we dont have to use proper punctuation to get our point across( anothe rpet peeve of mine lol)"
Quoting Mara:" it's what you remember. when people act normally - which is most threads, it's not memorable, thus ... [snip!] ... few, it seems like they're ALL over the place b/c it's unusual to get exposure to that sort of thing in one place repeatedly. "
Like when you drive a Honda Accord, you always notice other Honda Accords.. Or when you're pregnant, it seems like everyone is pregnant, because you pay attention to that...
No. I'm the exact opposite and avoid conflict at all costs. I enjoy respectful, intelligent debates but do not appreciate when people sink to the level of name-calling, threats, etc. I might volley a couple of responses but you will never catch me on here in an all out melee. When people start arguing for the sake of being right they're wasting everyone's time (including their own). I already waste enough time on this website. I'm not gonna sit here and interact with downright trolls unless I'm having a super slow day, lol.
