What is a stitch in your ribs?
i believe the rule is more than five an hour.. If you're concerned then call your caregiver, but painful Braxton Hicks are normal

you really should call your doctor - sounds like preterm labor.

If they aren't ongoing and they stop then I would assume it is just Braxton hicks. For some people Braxton hicks aren't painful but for some they are, mine were. I had many little bursts of Braxton hicks on and off that were painful and many times I had the back pain too.

I don't get any sort of pain in my ribs, my uterus just gets extremely tight and hard, you can see the contraction.. Sometimes I get period cramps along with it. They weren't too painful (that I can remember) with my first, but this time it gets so tight I can hardly walk through one. I'm 33 weeks and have been getting them quite often for three weeks now

If you're having them 5 minutes apart...you need to go get checked. Don't wait until tomorrow if they continue that way. The rule is, if they're 5 minutes a part, you need to go to the hospital. Don't mess around with it, just go get checked out.

When I went into labor (37 weeks) I had one big contraction in my back, and when I stood up, my water broke. So you could be going into labor and experiencing back labor. You're too early to have the baby, so chances are they'll stop it (or at least try) if you go now, so don't wait till it's too late.

If it is the real thing they won't stop.. I went to l&d at 35 weeks when I was pregnant with my first with contractions 4-5 minutes apart. They had me walk around for an hour and I had not changed from 1 cm so they gave me a shot of terbutaline, sent me home and said come back when they are 2-3 minutes apart.. Of course the medication just made them irregular. I didn't come back until a week and a half later I had my next appointment, I was 4.5 cm and leaking.. But still, the contractions never stopped.
Make sure you are drinking lots of water
