Well,not your kid. so,no.

It is just another thing they can control. It is really kind of crazy.

Can't smoke in your car with your kids, can't be on the phone while driving, can't smoke in certain counties unless inside your home, you HAVE to have insurance. I mean damn,FREE COUNTRY isn't so free anymore.

Really,as long as they aren't smoking in the house or car with my kid,I don't care. Not my business.

My husband tells me stories of how his parents would smoke with him in the car with the window's rolled up. He hated it but couldnt do anything about it. This law would help children like him that are subjected to the dangers of second hand smoke and have no choice in the matter. I'm glad this law came about.

When I directed a day care, I would always feel so bad for the kids that would come in smelling like an ash tray. YOu could tell that the only time they got a break from having to breath that crap in was probably when they were in school. It always breaks my heart when a child smells bad or is not cleaned properly.

I think it is a great law. It is so wrong to put children in a car then have smoke funneling through the air they breathe. Even if the window is open the smoke still filters through the car. Children don't need smoke filled air. They need fresh air and you can't ignore their needs because they happen to be children.

I think while the intentions of the law are good, it's still not right. You own the car, not the government. Next they'll be telling you you can't smoke at home either.

Was the law passed because of the health issues associated with smoking?

Or because smoking while driving is distracting and dangerous?

And why age 8?

My mom smokes with all her kids at home in the car. And she watches my son and smokes in the car with him and it pisses me off too. They think my son has asthma now. And I and NOT happy at all. And I will be confronting her if she does it again.

I don't think it should be legal to smoke in your car or home if children WILL frequently be there, not just when they're CURRENTLY present.

But at least it's a step in the right direction.

My grandma smoked with the windows up too when I was little. It was so gross.

I cant wait for Oregon to pass this law. They've been thinking about it for a long time. But honestly, I don't think its gonna stop people just like the law here for cell phones. You can get a huge ticket for being on the phone while driving... that didn't stop people.. I see people texting while driving all the time. And honestly, how are cops gonna see kids in the car while someone is smoking, if they have tinted windows? Its a great law but seriously. It doesn't make sense to me.

Why do you even let her watch him then? I would be furious but that's something you two should have talked about beforehand. Anyone that I know who smokes knows not to do it around my child.
