seeing ob every 2 weeks... [Doe Eyed Dirty Lurker] 18 kids; noneya, TN, United States 3245 posts

I'm almost to the point in my pregnancy where they want me to come in every 2 weeks. Which by itself blows my mind...I feel like this part got here waaaay too fast, but I've been wondering...why is that common practice? I'm not arguing it, I just don't really see the point in a healthy, uneventful pregnancy to switch from every month to every 2 weeks.

I know anything can happen...but it's not like they monitor me any closer...I just get to about cry when I see the number on the scale twice as often lol

Yes they are monitoring you closer because you are seen every 2 weeks. You more at risk for complications towards the end up pregnancy

ETA: Any preg can go from healthy to complicated very quickly

Eh, I guess in a way they are...and I know, I said so up there. I guess I just get sick of driving up there and waiting 45 minutes to piss in a cup and leave lol

I think they like to monitor your blood pressure and check on baby's movement/heartrate/growth more toward the end.

My OB brought up the 2 week appointments last time I was there and it blew my mind too. It got here so quick! I've got an appt next week and then one more monthly appt. After that I go every 2 weeks.

I just started my once a week visits. My blood pressure was up slightly which I never had before but it isn't anything to worry about according to my doctor. I can't believe I'm already at this point..kind of unreal. But Id rather be safe then sorry and be checked a lot at the end.

Yeah, I go back in 3 weeks for my glucose test ( no idea why its in 3 instead of 4 but oh well, lol) then every 2 weeks after that. I seriously went "we're there already?!" It's nuts lol
