Help me explain this to my autistic son. user banned

Caiden is four years old. He doesn't have the comprehension, understanding, and processing of a child of his age range. Those are the biggest issues hes dealing with, it's VERY low.

He has a half sister that is one day shy of four months younger than him. ( 1/28/09 & 7/27/09 ) They each other as sister and brother. They have no knowledge of halfs or step. We have no plans to treat them any different or make a big deal about it. I am engaged to their father.

Caiden asked why Angel (his sister) can't come home with us and why we have to leave her. It's very sad leaving her.

How do we explain that to him? He doesn't know the concept of two people together/not together/different mom thing. He won't get it. I think it will be MORE confusing when we move in with his father and family but not Angel. There's a chance she will but it's looking slim.
(me, his, dad, two cousins, aunt & uncle)

We are very sad dropping her off because of her living situation (so dangerous/unfair) He stared at his sisters seat the whole way home.

Help!
What the f**k do I Do?

Social story?

Maybe a social story about how all families are different and how she needs to go stay with someone else?

"She has a different mommy and her mommy loves her just as much as we do, so we have to share, but she's coming back soon."

Well, first of all, if you know she's living in a dangerous situation, your fiance should probably be filing for full custody like, yesterday. :?

And if you never explain it, he will never understand. Just tell him she needs to stay with her mommy. Answer each question as bluntly and clear as you can as they come.
