Quoting Haylow:" Legally you are suppose to keep them in a rear facing seat until they are 2 years old now to prevent ... [snip!] ... tall. Her feet have hung out of her car seat carrier for a while now. I'm thinking we may have to switch her soon as well. "

...it's not ridiculous. Look up the statistics on how many kids die in car accidents everyday. Mostly because they should have been properly harnessed rearfacing or in the correct seat. Our daughter rearfaced to 3 years old, 30lbs and about 39 inches. She was perfectly comfy with her legs stretched out or crossed. She's 4 1/2 now and harnessed in a Graco Nautilus and still crosses her legs.

Depending on which vehicle we are taking we will be doing rear facing and forward facing after 1. FF is safer then putting her seat in her father's truck where the seat doesn't fit RF and is pressed up against the seats and he has to be pressed into the steering wheel while driving because his seat has to be pushed forward to fit the carseat. In my car she will stay RF
