Labor Story Tabetha Mcclelland Due February 16; 1 child; Princeton, West Virginia 42 posts21st Mar
Ok as some of you know I had a difficult time getting an ob in my new state well by my due date i finally got one, So I went to the docs on feb 19th and they checked me and the baby to make sure everything was fine (my dd was the 17th of feb) she then had me go get bloodwork done and meet with the anestesiologist ab my epi the next day and then had me back in her office the 21st. I get in to see her and she says ok you wanna have this baby now? I said hell yes, she had me check in at 9 that evening so they could start my anti biotics when I got checked in i was dialated to 5!! but still only 50% thinned. Then they told me I couldnt have an epi!!! Due to the rash I had gotten from the Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy, they didnt want to risk an infection cuz it could go stright to my spine and brain. I was terrified, I had an epi with my first child and was devestated that I would have to go through this but then i though well women did it for centuries before with nothing but a towel or stick to bite on. They started the pitoocin at 4am and gave me a shot of stadol (for the record stadol does nothing for pain, it is a sedative that makes you sleep with little contractions and in between the big ones) I was fine, even had pictures taken at noon of me and my bf smiling....wellllll then came the hard part!!! As the contractions got worse I started to cry but i breathed through it, then they got worse and they gave me another shot of stadol (again not for pain just made me sleep) I passed out then all hell broke loose, i couldnt open my eyes because the stadol but i was awake and in so much pain I begged for a c-section because I couldnt breathe anymore I was so exhausted my heart felt like it was going to explode, I was dialated to 10 but i was only about 85% thinned, well the nurse came back and said she spoke with the doctor ab the c-section and she refused to do it because of risking infection I yelled at the top of my lungs (and i feel like an a*s for it now lol) You wont give me an epi you wont give me a c-section then give me something to help with the gd pain!!! Went through that for ab another hour and got checked again, I wasnt thinning anymore... if you dont wanna here ab the nurse bein up in my va***jay i suggest you stop reading now lol, my nurse after checking me again told me that it was now or never before Me and the baby both got too exhausted, she stuck her hand back in me (actually against my cervix) and told me i had to push, I couldnt it hurt so bad how hard she was pushing, she said I had to and i told her get your hand out and i will push, she said it was the only wasy the baby would come out I screamed and screamed from the pain and told her to get out of me it hurt and told my bf please baby make her stop, the nurse flinched like he was gonna hit her (and he wanted to but didnt she was just doing her job) but she never pulled her hand out, finally I pushed as hard as I could and it hurt so bad, but as soon as she popped through her head shot straight down and part way out, then i needed to push and they kept telling me not to push wait for the doctor i said where the f is she at i need to push!! She came in and I got to push, wow i though it hurt and was hard up to that point, boy was i wrong, it wasnt like a stabbing pain or tearing it was just burning like i was on fire, a few hard pushes and loud screams her head was out, next came the shoulders but wouldnt you know it, that went wrong to, she had shoulder dystotia so I had to push her out with both shoulders together!! I pushed one hard time and screamed bloody m****r, one nurse told me to stop screaming dont make another sound and use that energy to push and the other nurse pushed me up by my back and told me to look at my baby being born, i pushed a few more hard pushes then her shoulders popped out and she just kinda slid out... howeverI personally think delivering the placenta hurt just as bad maybe even a little wirse because of the pulling, that was actual hurt pain if that makes any since. So at 3;48pm feb 22nd 2013 mt babygirl Sapphira Issabella~Dawn was born 8lbs 8.3 oz and 20 1/2 inches long. Aside from all the difficulties throughout my pregnancy and even in labor she was born perfectly healthy and ok except for her head, she had a huge knot on the back/side of her head, the doc said its where she sat in the birth canal so long and then just shot out so quickly that the trauma caused her brain to leak fliud/blood causing the knot and causing her to be slightly jaundice... She is now almost a month old, her head has gone back to normal, no more jaundice and she is absolutley amazing. Looking at it now, I would have loved the epidural it would have gone so much smoother but I am happy to say I got to experiance natural child birth, I will never do it again lol but I am thankful I had to experiance, I chickened out with my first and this time there was no getting out of it i had no choice in the matter. I will say bravo to all the women who do it without an epi, you all are the true mold of a women, I can take pain like its nothin but child birth, nope I dont think I would do it natural again.
