Is the baby kicking? Hard-Bodied Slut Due March 3 (boy); 1 child; Tennessee 2698 posts

Okay, so lately I have been feeling the baby move and I absolutely love the feeling. But this morning I was eating and I got a real sharp pain on the right side of my stomach in the front. It felt like the baby kicked the hell out of me. Is that what is was or was it just a sharp pain. Did it hurt you when you first felt your baby kick? Cause I'm hoping that's what it was.

A sharp pain sounds more like round ligament pain. You will know when you feel the first kick because it feels just like a little thump from the inside and then you will gradually feel harder and harder kicks.

Sounds like you are feeling the stretching of your uterus... VERY PAINFUL sometimes.

I thought I was the only one, yeah I get sharps pains too.
But I figured it was round ligament pain or slow digestion.

It COULD be but I kinda doubt it. Your a few months behind me and when i first started feeling the baby move they werent hard enough to hurt. Especially not a sharp pain.

Even now its never a sharp pain...sometimes she kicks me so hard it makes me jump and its pretty forceful but never sharp. But who knows, it could be your baby but it sounds more like ligament pains to me.

I have been pregnant 4 times and have never had the baby kick so hard that it hurt. Sometimes sharp pains come from "growing" pains, as the uterus expands.

Sounds like a muscle spasm. I get those too sometimes. Or it could be your ligaments stretching. Baby kicks aren't usually sharp. They can be painful sometimes, but not sharp like that.

at first I thought it was cute... felt like little gas bubbles... then when I really started feeling him I was so excited... didnt start hurting though untill just recently the baby is getting big and you can clearly see my stomach pertrude a good 2-3 inches when he really moves. Those are the ones that hurt. But never got sharp pains.. expecially early on.
Didnt feel my round ligaments untill about 30 weeks... and just now feeling the pelvic pain...
You should talk to you Dr. about the pain expecially if it persists.

Well I've never been pregnant, so this is all new to me. It just moves so much that I started thinking "maybe it's time for kicking, but I should ask first"

It doesn't exactly hurt, it's just like a sudden *bam* in my stomach kind of feeling. Lol I can't explain it. Thanks for all the input everyone!!!

I don't think it should hurt when your baby first starts kicking because the baby is neither big or strong enough, at least that's how it was for me and what I've read. I'm 7 months and her movement never hurts, at most uncomfortable at times. But everyone's different.
