Quoting Devil Duckie:" IV pain meds don't last very long. I started out with them hoping to not get an eppi. seriously, it ... [snip!] ... care. It's does nothing for the pain itself. Epidurals are NOT as scary as they sound. Don't listen to the scare stories. "

Oh I know they aren't scary! I had them with both of my previous births and they were wonderfullll <3 I just want to go for a more natural approach this time.

I don't know if this has been said or not, but since the IV pain meds are systemic, they're more likely to affect your baby. The epidural is local, and not as likely to affect baby, but it's likely to drop your blood pressure.

Just a thought.

I had IV pain meds (Nubain) and all it did was make my groggy.

I had IV meds with Kai & Ry. It was the same drug, but with Kai it made me feel super loopy/high and with Ry it made me super sleepy! I have very uncomplicated labors, even when being induced so the IV was great to take the edge off. It definitely doesn't take the pain away, it just kinda dulls it! But having gone natural with Lambie & Chloe...I wish I would've gone natural with all of them! Eh...live and learn. Good luck Mama!!!

I had Iv meds to take the edge off... But it was, only after the fact that I found out they get baby high too and sometimes make it so they need oxygen after delivery.

I'll never ever do it again.

Stadol made my sister in law sick as a dog both times she was in labor. I agree with everyone else, epidural or natural.

Quoting lauren ♥ 25 weeks:" Have any of you had your baby WITHOUT an epidural, but WITH an IV pain medication? If so, how was your experience with it?"

They made me loopy so I don't remember most of my labor but they wore off by the time I needed to push so I remember and felt all of that. But it wasn't so bad, I didn't get sick and my daughter was coherent when she came out. I got the meds about 2 hours before I delivered and only the one dose. I considered my labor and delivery the easy part! It was pregnancy that sucked lol
